Homeless dogs have Thanksgiving feast
CHICAGO, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Some 50 homeless dogs were flown to New York Friday after a stopover in Chicago for a special Thanksgiving feast, an animal rights group said.
The canine visitors were on a layover on a trip from Missouri to New York to find new homes when they were taken to DoGone Fun for a special dinner, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
At the shelter, the visitors feasted on canned turkey with potatoes and carrots, duck and sweet potatoes and bagged meals of pheasant,
Twenty of the dogs were rescued from puppy mills and the rest came from a shelter in Joplin, Mo., the Best Friends Animal Society of Utah said.
Pet Airways provided their first class transportation to New York while Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Co. donated the chow for the Thanksgiving dinner.
