<snip>
Franklin runs an organization called "The Samaritan's Purse." Purse claims on their website to be an "International Christian relief and evangelism organization that provides spiritual and physical aid to victims of war, poverty, natural disaster, and disease."

Right.

Of course, an "international christian relief organization" can't function without a fleet of corporate airplanes.

And that brings us to Sarah Palin.

In her book tour, Palin claims that she's just like the rest of us, riding her tour bus from town to town.

BULLSHIT.

Samaritan's Purse is flying Sarah around in one of its aircraft. She lands near her next book rally, gets on the bus, and rides into town on the bus.

Palin is flying around in a Beechcraft/King Air 300tail number N262SP (multi-engine, 11 passengers). The SP does not stand for Sarah Palin -- the plane is owned by Samaritans Purse.

This means that donations to SP are being used to haul Palin's carcass around. Wonder what the donors think of that?

Hmmm. Does this violate Samaritan's Purses 501c(3) status?

And -- get this -- I tried to check the flight activity for this airplane (N262SP) at Flightaware.com. The flight activity for this plane is blocked by the owner. Guess he doesn't want anyone to know where he is flying.

2. I saw three Samaritan's Purse trucks here after our recent disastrous flooding..
They were obviously very expensive and very new.

A larger than normal tractor trailer rig and what appeared to be two ambulance type vehicles covered with antennae, looked like communications centers to me.

So many Christians seem to be clueless about their holy book, why any ostentatious Christian would take the name "Samaritan" for an organization of theirs is beyond me. The Good Samaritan of the parable was not a religious man, in fact he was a rebuke to the ostentatiously religious, the Priest and the Levite who passed by the wounded man as if he were rotten meat.

Samaratins who were considered evil people by the Jewish Israelites. Samaratins believer their version of the Jewish religion was first and correct and that the Heberew Jews stole it and got it wrong. The biblical Jews therefor considered them terrible heretics, while the Samaratins considered the Jews userpers of the true faith. Not much seems to have changed.

5. No, the Good Samaritan was still considered evil by those who passed the injured man by..
The Good Samaritan is called that because of his *actions*, he showed mercy on the injured man while the pious men passed him by.

We all know that there are a great many Christians today who think that works have nothing to do with whether one is a good person or not.

Here is the scripture from Luke 10:

25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

10. That is what I am saying _ the point is that a no-account Samaratin did good
while the pious of the "correct" religion did nothing.

7. Reminds me of Rosie Ruiz. Remember her?
Rosie Ruiz Vivas (born 1953, Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban American who on April 21, 1980 ostensibly came in as the first place female competitor in the 84th Boston Marathon, but was later stripped of her title when it was found that she had cheated.

Ruiz appeared to complete the marathon with a record time of 2:31:56.<1> Race officials later determined that she had not run the entire 26.2-mile course but instead had registered for the race and later jumped in from the crowd and sprinted to the finish.<2>

There was suspicion from the beginning, as no one had seen her running earlier in the race, she did not appear in videotape footage, and some members of the crowd reported witnessing her run into the race in the last mile.<3> Some female competitors thought it was odd when, asked what she had noticed about Wellesley while running through it, she did not mention the students of Wellesley College, who traditionally loudly cheer the first women runners as they pass the campus. In addition, her time of 2:31:56 was an unusual improvement, more than 25 minutes ahead of her reported time in the New York City Marathon six months earlier. When asked by a reporter why she didn't seem fatigued after the grueling race, she said, "I got up with a lot of energy this morning."<4>

Soon, race officials learned that Ruiz had possibly cheated in the New York marathon in order to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Freelance photographer Susan Morrow reported meeting her on the subway during the New York race and accompanying her from the subway to the race. She lost touch with Ruiz after that, but came forward when the news of Ruiz's dubious Boston win broke. According to Morrow, she met Ruiz on the subway and together they walked a distance to the finishing area, where Ruiz identified herself as an injured runner. She was escorted to a first aid station and volunteers marked her down as having completed the marathon, thus qualifying her for the Boston Marathon.

Eventually, race officials decided to strip Ruiz of her Boston Marathon title and named Jacqueline Gareau of Montreal, Quebec, Canada the women's winner, with a time of 2:34:28.<5> New York Marathon director Fred Lebow had rescinded Ruiz's 1979 finish earlier that week, determining that Ruiz had not completed her first marathon, either.

13. Billy and Franklin are PR hacks for the next life, and as such, devalue
this life by default.

Their default context is the heavenly hereafter with angel choirs and puffy clouds and Jesus patting them on the back.

And so it follows that they would not bother to lend a critical ear to the real-life struggles of people in this here-and-now existence, and worse, would lend material assistance to Palin, who is as disconnected from the truth of the here-and-now as an adult can possibly be.

Sarah is really stepping up her religious wing-nuttery. This is the part about her that scares me the most.

Local bloggers have been covering these Sarah Palin/Samaritan's Purse connections since last winter when Sarah used them for her photo op to starving Western Alaska with the cookies and good cheer.
