Price wars.... and the power of Wally Mart
so I am in the search for a netbook for a friend. Realize getting a computer is a big deal for them. and money is tight. So I went looking at the door busters prices online. Yep, I was late for the "good deals," but here is one thing I did notice... wally mart can even outsell their competition on this.

Of course this should be all but shocking... as they can afford the lose leaders... but it made my stomach churn. And yes, in their case 50 bucks will be a big deal, so I am debating... wake up before them critters are up, to see if I can get her a deal... or... buy it on base and save myself the headache. It will be about thirty buck more on a "regular day."

Oh and I admit, bad me... if I remembered this online sale... how much attention I pay really, I'd have gotten on the machine early this morning. Just that sales TODAY...

But this tells you a lot about the power of having a multi-billion bidness. It also tells you how sick is our economy, depending fully on ... consumption.

1. As much as I dislike the great Wally
you are attempting to do something good for someone else and occasionally there is some bad that comes with attempts to do good. I would buy it there if you can and save yourself the $30.00 which if it really bothers you donate to someone or something.

8. Because not all answers are simply black & white
the OP is trying to do something that is a benefit for someone in need, which I find to be very noble (and speaking from experience, not the first time they have done so, but that is another story). I think the first goal is to get the "thing" & if the OP elects to do so with whatever amount they save, they can do something else good with that amount.

3. If you were to buy through "regular" channels, what U.S. business or worker would benefit?
Just wondering, in the case of imported stuff, whether it really matters.

Additionally, when WallyMart buys anything from any business, they really put the screws to them and put them at risk of financial failure. Look how many U.S. manufacturers they ruined before they quit playing around and just started buying 100% overseas. "We simply can't make it for a penny less than that" is a phrase that turns WalMart buyers on like Viagra.

4. Just a thought
Verizon Wireless has a deal through the end of the month for a Gateway Netbook for $30 with a 2 year mobile broadband contract.

Otherwise Costco sells them from $299-$399 online.

5. They are not in the US, or I'd do that
as to Costco, yes buying it on base is actually a better deal.

I will be taking it when I go down to see my parents. She is my Nanny's daughter in law. so yes, thirty to fifty bucks is a huge deal. Especially the way the exchange rate is these days. Hell, I am even considering taking mine down and giving it to them. Not like i am using it much these days.

7. i was looking at wally world`s selection of tv`s online and in stores
the tvs were 60 megahertz and only a couple of tv`s were 120 which is today`s standard.
just about everything name brand item in wally world is made exclusively for wally world and can not be bought at wally`s price. at wally world you get actually what you pay for.

loss leaders? no they are selling them at a lower profit margin. clothing is marked up so that even at 75% off they can cover their cost.why do you think jc penny can run sales that offer 50-75% off.

oh ya ,my wally world does`t have any kids shoes.something went wrong with the shoes and they pulled them....
