It's Thanksgiving. Say Something Nice About Someone.
I'll go first.

I love my Mom and Dad, they're very sweet and precious.

Dad comes home from long term care for just today, then for good on Saturday.

Both will be in wheelchairs, Mom suffered from Polio as a child.

The care I need to give them is well worth having them in my life.

1. Emmylou Harris' song, "From Boulder to Birmingham," is a precise hieroglyph
of the human heart, one of the best love songs ever, and it is a privilege to hear her sing it.

I'll be up to see him and take him out for lunch Friday.

10. I'm thankful for my extended family all 25 or 30 of 'em
And I'm even more thankful that all but 12 of them will be spending Thanksgiving somewhere else this year.

Last year we had the whole buckin funch at our house, some stayed for 2 days, and there were innumerable political arguments and even the threat of a fist fight.

I guess the hints we dropped to the biggest offenders (my two nephews and their families) had an effect.

16. My dear NYC_SKP!
What a great idea for a thread!

I want to give thanks for so much...

First, for you, for your support and help as I struggled with recording my poems, and then for complimenting me!

And for my husband, who loves me more than he should...

And for my precious daughters and my grandchildren!

And for the incredible cyber community that has brought so much love and enlightenment into my life!

I am grateful for so much...

Thank you for this...

I am very thankful for my 20 month old grandson. He is so funny and cute. He spouts off gibberish all day long and I don't understand anything he is saying or trying to say. I told his Mom he will probaby grow up to be a fundamentalist preacher because he is already speaking in tongues. I love him very much and is making my old age much more interesting.

32. I still like President Obama. I think he's doing the best he can with a seriously
screwed up country. I don't agree with every move he makes, but at least I feel like he's putting a lot of effort and thought into it. A stark contrast
to his predecessor.

There's plenty of other stuff I'm grateful for, but I felt like saying that. :-)

and one of the kindest. I'm very thankful that we're finally together. (For those of you who don't know, my husband and I were high school sweethearts in 1963 for seven months, split up, went our separate ways on vastly different paths for 37 years, and reunited in 2000. After a couple of years disengaging from our respective terrible relationships, we married in 2003 and are wonderfully happy.) I have three great daughters, four beautiful grandsons, a roof over my head, food on my table. Life is good. It hasn't always been this way for me, so my heart is full. I've survived and I'm glad. I know I can face whatever the future holds.

53. People who give when they don't have much themselves . . .
Our community has a Christmas Angel project that provides toys for needy children. They take just about anything, even old toys and clean them up. (This is a small community with a lot of unemployment due to factory closings. Things are pretty bad here) I donated 2 dozen soft body dolls to our local nursing home and the residents are stuffing them and then donating them to the Christmas Angel project. I feel my gift was multiplied by the smiles on those residents faces as they were able to do something good for needy children also. My feeling is that everyone can make a contribution in this world, you have have to figure out how to do it.

58. Right on! I listened to a piece on NPR, I think, last night about kindness.
And how in our society it's out of vogue, even discouraged, because we're supposed to be tough, and win and acquire money and stuff over time, more than our peers, that's the measure of success.

Sad, that it's true.
