An Addison family found shot dead in their west suburban home Wednesday, apparently in a triple-murder and suicide, was under financial strain after the father recently had his hours cut back or lost his job, a law enforcement source said.

The mother of the family, which included two young boys, was laid off in the spring from her job at an auto manufacturer. snip

Thomas Mangiantini, an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, had worked as a printer, but he lost his job or his hours were cut back, a source said.

The two boys attended school in Addison District No. 4. School Supt. John Langton would not confirm which school the boys attended but said crisis counselors will be available Monday.

Neighbors said they often saw the boys riding their bicycles. One neighbor said the family was involved with the Boy Scouts. The family also was reportedly involved in youth sports. When her house flooded last year, the man at the home "was the first one to ask us if we needed help."
