Often cantankerous and certainly quirky, but a community and I'm thankful for that.

I wish you all a very happy thanksgiving day, and now I'm off to make my chipotle and orange sweet potatoes and cherry pie.

Having just polished off an apple cinnamon Dutch Baby.....baked cod with green beans and roasted potatoes later on (just my wife and I this Thanksgiving).

Much to be thankful for...Bush gone, Obama here, wife...dogs...cat...daughters....

5. I feel I have friends here even though I don't know everyone

personally. We step up to the plate when folks are in trouble. It feels good.
I'm thankful for that.

17. here's the sort of recipe

sort of because I just make up recipes and I don't really use exact measurements.

6 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled, quartered and boiled
1/2 stick butter
2 oranges
5 or 6 canned chipotle peppers and 2 tablespoons of the adobo sauce
salt
nutmeg
1/2 cup brown sugar

mash the potatoes add the butter the grated rind of the oranges and the juice of one orange, then add sugar, salt and grate nutmeg to taste.

19. Thanks for posting.

My husband & I love sweet potatoes & I'm always looking for new ways to serve them. I love chipotles, but never would have thought to mix them with sweet potatoes.

the chipotles go well with the earthiness of the sweet potatoes adding a smoky flavor that's not at all overwhelming.
