To the smartest, most passionate, most creative group of people I've ever been lucky to be a part of

Happy Thanksgiving.

I don't care if you're black, white, red, rainbow colored, yellow, or green due to your exposure to the star Rigel; I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.

If there were one single day per year that we could put away our hatred and disdain, our dislike and our distrust, I'd wish that the day could be TODAY.

It's already called Thanksgiving. We don't have to buy into the historical meaning of the word. WE can make this OUR OWN DAY. For every ten things we find ourselves angry ABOUT, surely there must be ONE thing we're thankful FOR.

DU'ers, I call on you, on this day, to be THANKFUL. Be thankful for SOMETHING. Be thankful for ANYTHING. Be thankful that your kitten shits in the cat box. Be thankful that your puppy whines at the back door when he/she has to do her business. BE thankful that you can sit up and take nourishment. Be thankful that you're part of this damnable rat race.

Be thankful that you found DU and that you're part of a very special segment of the American Experience. I know I am.

Be thankful that tomorrow, Sol will rise in the east, and set in the west, no matter what happens during the day. Be thankful for Luna, who makes the tides rise and ebb, and who makes the oceans move food from deep water to shallow.

Be thankful for something. Make the day your own.

My thanks? My parents are still alive, and I'm 48 years old. My 18 year old gay daughter calls my cell phone just to say hi, and talk with me. My pets, Venus (6 year old Himalayan), Harley (6 year old Persian), Bella (1 year old Golden Retriever) and Luna (6 month old Miniature Pinscher) come to the door when I come home and vie for their moment of attention, not to mention that when I walk into my house I'm greeted by a view of the lake below...

Happy Thanksgiving

2. My dear cherokeeprogressive...
I am thankful every day for so much!

For DU, my dear friends here, and offline too...

For the love in my life, for my husband and children, and my grandchildren...

For whatever ability I have to craft my poetry...

For the lucky shots I get with my camera...

For the opportunity to share my ideas with all you terrific and terribly intelligent people...

And right now, I am especially thankful that you thought to start this thread, so that I could answer you...

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

K&R

3. cherok you need to step away from the booze, i suggest in your condition sleeping in the bath
its easier to clean up the mess and for some reason when you are drunk its the most comfortable place to be...... :)

in between in order to recover :P happy tofurkey (if it looks like a toturd, tastes like a toturd and smells like a toturd, then its pretty likely to be a turd) day

10. LOL yeah well tomorrow the Butterball is going to taste like Turkey from Heaven.
Sailors don't need a day to recover. When they wake up, they're Sailors. If they aren't, they risk losing the ship.

12. There is no more wonderul dog than a Golden Retriever.
We had cats before we decided to get a dog. We found Bella at a website for a breeder in San Luis Obisbo when were were only THINKING about getting a dog. We saw her, and by the end of the evening, we had placed a deposit and made plans to go get her.

She's already traveled over 5,000 miles in the back of our Tahoe. I'd risk my life to save her just as I'd risk my life to save my new Wife. Bella has been the source of more enjoyment in so many ways that I think of her as my own child.

18. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, cherokeeprogressive!
:toast:

I also am thankful for my decent health and that of my parents, I'm thankful for my human friends and my 4-year-old black-and-orange devil cat Madimi who never fails to make me smile no matter how shitty the day.

Most of all, I'm thankful that I get to live on this beautiful Earth with all its life and surprises. That is a gift that everyone should be thankful for, regardless of whom they thank.
