Disgraced Auburn Attorney Arrested Again for "Underwater Research" with Teens
ROSEVILLE, CA - Roseville police detectives have busted a former local attorney convicted of child molestation on suspicion of being up to his old behavior.
Jonathan Regent Tyrell, 42, of Auburn, was arrested for parole violation Nov. 17, said Roseville Police Department spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther. She said detectives learned Tyrell had become friendly with a 19-year-old and tried to recruit him for "underwater apnea" research.
In 2005, Roseville police investigators took Tyrell into custody for similar "research" that involved him recruiting youths as young as 15 to immerse themselves in a bathtub and hold their breath while he took pictures of them and videotaped them.
Tyrell was convicted of misdemeanor child molestation, forgery, possession of methamphetamine, and battery causing serious bodily injury stemming from the 2005 police investigation. In 2007, he lost his license to practice law due to his convictions.
Police investigators are concerned that Tyrell may have contacted other young people for "underwater research." Anyone who has has such contact with Tyrell is asked to call detectives at (916) 774-5070.
