I highly recommend a book I'm reading on economics for non economists.
It is called "Filthy Lucre: Economics for People Who Hate Capitalism". It goes into all sorts of fallacies people on the right and the left have about economics. Joseph Heath is the author and he is a philosophy professor at University of Toronto (but it isn't an all about Canada book).

It is really readable and full of the background history of all sorts of movement like the Libertarians (they are as over as communists). I'm not even half way through it but it is a great buy.
