6. For some, there's no holiday that isn't an excuse to be miserable and to spread misery to others.

10. We are not allowed to have fun during holidays.
We are obligated instead to wallow in our collective liberal guilt over the sins of our ancestors, or of other people's ancestors.

7. There ya go! Grinchiness for Thanksgiving, eh?
I think I'll have turkey, instead.

We, as a nation, did horrible things to the indigenous people here. We still are, to some degree. That should be corrected. We can't fix the past, but we could well move forward.

Still, whining about it around Thanksgiving is sort of an annoying thing to do, you know. In actual fact, Thanksgiving is one of the very few times when we recognize those indigenous people for the help they gave to the European settlers. Yes, they were repaid for their kindness with genocide, but that isn't what we remember about them on Thanksgiving.

Every school pageant for the day has Native American characters in it, supplying part of the food the settlers were thankful for. It's the one day when we actually recognize them as human.

Get over yourself, please.

11. Back at ya!
I'm going to do some scalping and handout some pox-covered blankets before the family and I sit for a delicious turkey marinated in the blood of the noble savage.

13. May a little ray of sunshine and goodwill penetrate the dark chasms of your soul...
:wtf:

It's a family holiday. Give your gramma a hug and wish your uncle well. Invite a friend over for some pie. If you really can't stand human happiness, go see a dreadful movie. By no means see "Pirate Radio" which is laugh out loud funny -- that would definitely spoil your mood of doom and gloom.

I am going to celebrate Thanksgiving Day by giving thanks. My wife just got out of the hospital and for me that's enough to be thankful for. Are you posting this shit just to get a rise out of people here or are you truly a jerk?

23. I prefer to think of it as:
Happy-anniversary-of-the-conning-of-the-Native-Americans-into-helping-us-survive-so-we-could-kill-most-of-them-in-order-to-steal-their-land-Day!

It's kind of a mouthful though...

All the same... cheers.
I'm still trying to get a piece of their land for myself though... ;(

31. No guilt from me, either...at best I'm only
a third generation American, most of my ancestors having come down from Canada in the 19th Century to work in the mills of New England.

Some of my earlier ancestors even intermarried with the First Nation people of Canada.

In any case, I'll have a good time snarfing down turkey with all the trimmings, thankful that I don't have to inflict my own misery on others and trying to spoil their holiday.

cheers!

:woohoo:
