NO MORE PACKING PEANUTS!
Can you believe how many companies STILL use these to ship stuff? They run all over, my cats chase them and try to eat them, and are NOT RECYCLABLE! :argh:

Whatever happened to going GREEN?

2. Actually, a lot of companies use the ones that are made of cornstarch.
They break down easily in water. If you get styrofoam ones, most places like Mailboxes Etc. or the UPS store will be happy to take them off your hands and re-use them. When I get the non-biodegradable ones, I keep them in a big box until I fill it up, then drop it off.

3. I have a small mail-order business
and we use biodegradable cornstarch peanuts. They are expensive but customers like them. Throw them out in the rain and they disintegrate to almost nothing in a few minutes.

5. We don't get may packing peanuts anymore, but when we do, we hang onto
them for reuse. And if I ever got a LOT of them, I would bag them up and then list them on Craig's List as a freebie.

11. If you get a lot of them again, we would very much like to have them.
I'm afraid we use a lot of them in our business.

Thanks.

14. I'd rather not burn dead dinosaurs shipping them to TX from SoCal, lol,
if that's ok with you.

But seriously, put an ad on Craig's List saying you want them. You'll get them.

7. My mother sent 6 dozen eggs to my sister with Oatmeal packing
Not one egg broken.

It was sent as baggage on a plane, she told the airline what she did after the fact and that not one egg broke. The airline representative told her she had more faith in baggage handling than they did.

10. I got a plant not long ago where they had
filled the bottom of the pot with the damned things. When I pulled the plant out, there spewed a "million" of the things!

15. the trick on that is to...
Put the packing peanuts in your average-sized grocery store plastic bag. Then punch holes in it with a knife and put it in the bottom of the pot. The drainage is good and the packing peanuts don't go everywhere when the plant is repotted.

Packing peanuts are terrific for gardeners because they serve the drainage purpose but don't add to the weight of the pot.

13. I save them and try and reuse them
when I have to transport something breakable. I know they certainly are a pain the ass the way they "drift" around. I hate them too but try to make the best of it by saving them for later use.
