What if Obama announces on Tuesday
that he's taxing the rich to fund the increased troops in Afghanistan. Will that finally be the end of this stupid war.

15. i'm against a draft.
people fought too hard to get rid of it the first time.

if we can't get politicians who will reject interventionism, that's our fault, not the fault of 18 year old kids.

29. me too. but it'll get the desired results:
intense opposition of the war. I would pray it wouldn't get far enough to enact one - and we're just talkin', so...

4. How about conscripting the eldest of the rich to fight
remember what an honor it was to be a soldier in ancient Sparta? How about resurrecting that gem of warfare?

9. Let's send Liz Chaney.
After all, she was one of Darth's 5 deferments. Seems only fair to me.
Time for someone in that family of war profiteers to serve.:grr:

14. On the face of it, not a bad idea. It would at least shut her up and keep her off the TeeVee
but... would you want our "national defense" depending on her sorry weak little ass? I wouldn't trust her to mop my floor.

13. How about we conscript the children of all those who say, to anyone who disagrees with the policy...
"President Obama, when he was Candidate Obama, SAID this is what he would do, so I'm all for it, and if you're not, you obviously didn't pay attention, or you couldn't have voted for him".

I bet that could change some hearts and minds about whether or not to support an escalation.

10. Why in the hell would sending more troops to Afghanistan end the war? The only
thing that will ever end the war is ENDING THE GODDAMN WAR. That means ALL TROOPS OUT, not more troops in. Putting more in is the result of someone thinking that this war can be won, which it can't. No army in history, no matter how powerful, has been able to win a war halfway across the world in a place where they're NOT WANTED. You can't win it. Get OUT NOW.

11. that would be a marginal improvement...
...but would not justify escalating the war against Afghanistan. On the other hand, if he announces that he's taxing the rich to rebuild American social programs and provide single payer universal health care, I'd be dancing in the streets.

The point is that taxing the rich to fund social needs is a good thing, and pointlessly killing poor people in medieval countries is a bad thing, no matter how you present it. Tying the two together does not make pointless war any more acceptable, however. It's STILL a crime against humanity.

19. Only if he announces all the tax loopholes are null and void first
The rich like to bitch about paying taxes, but they would just find a way to write it off anyway. If you actually took that away from them, THEN made them pay their fair share, they might take notice.

23. + Send all the able-bodied children of the rich (and politicians) straight to boot camp
then to the front lines/combat for no less than 4 tours of duty.

THAT would end the fucking wars immediately!

26. I doubt it ....
he has committed himself to this course of action both during his campaign and now. I can't tell you why, but he has done it and I think he is going to keep it. Perhaps we will see the end to this war when pigs fly.

I think that is around the same time we will see anyone tax the rich to make them pay for they way they have profited off this fiasco that Reagan began, Clinton continued, Bush put on steroids and Obama is just letting keep on.
