Thought for the day
They say politicians make strange bedfellows, but why does it always have to be on the Republicans' bed?

To be fair, they've been shacking up together so long, it's hard to remember whose bed it is. But it's always on the far-right side of the room.

1. When republicans are in power republicans get what they want...
when the Democrats are in power republicans get what they want.

The problem lies in the big tent of the Democratic Party. Where it is easy to get the republicans to tow the line, Democrats hardly ever follow party line.

This simple fact is why the republicans win in Congress and it is why the Democrats lose elections. The voters elect the Democrats to change the way Washington works and when the Democrats can't make undo 8 years of screw ups in 9 months everyone gets pissed off and switches their in the next election.

3. I would submit that
The big problem is the Democrats' combination of timidity and often really agreeing with the Republicans.

The Repubs stand up for their crummy brand. Our is (or should be) a better brand, but the Dems won't stand up for it. How many of them, for example, would be comfortable adopting your DU handle? Not very many.
