Republican concerns about accuracy in unemployment
It seems the republican party, and Fox, are looking out for our best interests. They are challenging the government figures used when publicizing the unemployment rate. According to them the 10.2 percent for October is way below what the rate actually is. They now believe the government should use the BLS report figure that includes the number of 'discouraged workers' to calculate the true rate. Using those numbers the unemployment rate is actually 17.5%.

I assume it is just coincidental that their "concern" over accuracy is occurring now that a democratic administration is in control.

1. Right..the repubs invented Fudgy Math under Reagan but now
they want it only to apply when a democrat is in the White House.

2. Yeah, they didn't seem to mind when Ronnie Raygun added the military
to the numbers of employed Americans, even though the vast majority of military members who survive, must reintegrate into the civilian workforce. Before Saint Ronnie, the military was considered temporary employees and were not included in the stats.

So, thank you Raygun for making war a little better, Because of him, every time a military member is killed, there is a job opening.

But honestly, even the GOP has the wrong numbers. If we calculated unemployment like they did when they first started collecting the numbers (and include women and minorities) the unemployment rate would be more like 21%.
