I am sick of seeing the first commet on every thread be a whine about how people are unreccing it. Some people unrec thread reflexively. So fucking what? Rec it and then contribute something other than whining. It's attention-whoring at its worst...if an unrec offends you but you have nothing insightful to add, then just rec and STFU.

Guess what, not EVERY thread posted is worth EITHER a Rec OR an UnReKKK!1 And I myself said many times during the Great Debate on UnReKKK that I never look at the Greatest Page and regard it mostly as a tool for Visitors, like media types, who don't have the time to delve through the entrails of DU, but how I DO a lot of Rec-ing (obviously, for OTHERS), both for merit and to keep worthy topics from falling through the cracks.

Since over half of the votes on threads are Unrecommend, the odds are that someone will Unrecommend every thread some time early in the thread. At the core is a belief that only the whiner's point of view is a valid one, and that applies not just to the topic, but to the worthiness for Recommend of the thread.

It's nuts, but then, those who throw hissy fits over Unrecommends aren't rational.

So what is that presumably there are liberal principles and if an OP states a liberal principle, like "in defense of progressive taxation" or "we are all in this together", then the fact that somebody unrecs that is puzzling and offensive. As in, you mean there are DUers who do not support progressive taxation? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: and just for good measure :wtf:

Of course, some DUers seem to feel that no other DUer who disagrees with them on ANY issue can really be a liberal in good standing and should be shown the door. All heretics should be tombstoned is their motto.

Any internet site has some trolls or people who do things just to be contrary. Every time time there's a whinefest about anonymous unrecs, it just feeds that trollery. And no, i'm not in th habit of unreccing threads, unless they're obviously factually wrong or made of fail, in which case i post about why I'm doing so.

I'm just tired of looking at interesting and worty threads where there's a bulge of 5 or 10 comments right under the OP of people thumping their chests but almost never discussing or adding to the actual subject of the thread. Unrec away, friends!
