Murdoch (Faux, WSJ) to ally with M$ Bing and pull content from Google
Heard this on the news this morning, couldn't believe my ears. Murdoch thinks it's a great idea to make a deal with Microsoft so that his content will only show up there and not in Google.

Okay I admit my first thought was "there's got to be an anti-trust violation in there somewhere" but my second thought was:

You mean I won't have Fox News articles showing up in my news searches on google anymore? Oh, whatever shall I do?

Maybe I am missing something here but for now I am just going to enjoy it. Oh, and I won't bother checking out Bing.

for more, search on Google news for something like "Bing Murdoch google" But here's a couple:

(and I was surprised not to see this here. maybe someone posted when the news was fresher?)

16. Yup
No bing for me either, it was not really in my plans anyway, was a bit ambivalent but this makes the choice easy.

8. And he thinks this will make money for him how?
Maybe that's why he is a multigazillionaire and I'm not, but I just don't see any advantage for him doing this.

For me, I'll grant you, it appears to be a great deal. Never have to have that crap turn up in a Google search again.

I'm just sorry I didn't buy some Google shares last December when it was down around $250.

11. oh I'm sure they are
but I still find this story interesting and amusing.

and I will still like google more, and Bing less, if one of the differentiators is where the Murdoch crap shows up.

12. Microsoft strategy?
They want to make Google a Fox-News-free search engine. So their plan is to pay money to improve their competitor's product?????!!!

13. Was posted a few times yesterday ...

First reported in Financial Times, IIRC.

My thread got, I think, three responses, but I posted it early in the am. A later thread made it to the Greatest I believe but didn't get a ton of comments.
