tv formats question please
I am trying to copy some dvd's but the tv wont recognize it. does anyone know which format i should use? I can covnert them from IsO FIles to mpeg. avi. dvd. etc... but am not sure which one to do. My old nero used to do record the dvd and i could play it instantly but for some reason it refuses to do so anymore. thanks

3. Do the original DVDs play correctly on your DVD player?
You could try another program like DVD Shrink or other freeware.

Could be a region problem or PAL incompatiblity with a American televisions.


Give me more info.

5. sometimes they do
at times its the dvd player but i think i found a player which recognizes all formats. Still there must be something else wrong somewhere

4. Mpeg or DVD. DVD is another word for mpeg2.
Mpeg is either mpeg1 or 2. Mpeg4 is usually MP4 or m4v (you don't need this from an ISO file). Either mpeg 1 or 2 is compatible with NTSC and ATSC televisions. Mpeg4 requires component or HDMI cables.

7. Convert to mpeg2. It's a better codec.
Mpeg1 is first gen DirectTV, 1990 or so. Not very good. Mpeg2 is the DVD standard. Been around since 1996. Less compression artifacts.

It will make a "backup copy" of any DVD.
