The only hope I can see for Obama
Is that the economy gets worse and he's forced to become another FDR, otherwise we're looking at a Hoover redux here.

He's perfectly willing to let Summers and Geithner prop up the investor class so long as theres any hope for a miracle.

3. President "No Jobs" propped up Wall Street, and gave Main Street the finger.
He's HISTORY!

2. What I don't get...
...is why Democrats think that kow towing to the Republicans--and adopting their policies--will
somehow be some silver-bullet political strategy. Oh, I'll show those voting Republicans that
I love war too...and I won't be too radical on health care, and I'll continue the Bush Patriot
Act...

Do Democrats really believe that this gets them the Republicans--and also Independents--and that the
Dems will fall in line?

It doesn't happen like that. The Dems become depressed and disillusioned. The Indies wonder if
you have any spine and the Republicans hate your guts like they always have.

Catering to the neocon, Glenn Beck crowd is a sure way to spiral into a failed presidency.

8. Two sides. Same coin. Pun indended. (being bought out?)
Inane speculation, but hardly an original one.

4. The economy is already bad enough to have made anyone other than a Republicrat be an FDR
Edited on Tue Nov-24-09 11:02 PM by brentspeak
I'm afraid we're not going to see a new FDR -- let alone a Truman or Eisenhower -- in Obama. It's ridiculous and it's a damn shame, but we're not as fortunate to be living in the less corporate-controlled USA that our predecessors were fortunate to live in. The Powers That Be have worked more than 30 years to make sure that no new FDRs will ever get inside the White House. :banghead:

7. Maybe the only real solution is to stop consuming as much as humanly possible
And burn the financial structure on wall street to the ground.

Brand and banish all the lobbyists.

Take back the country.

9. He won't do it, even if the economy gets worse. He is too wimpy.
