I just found out that my paycheck will be short this month
Seems dear Arnie (aka the governator) has decided to borrow from all us taxpayers. Says we will get paid back when we file our taxes next year. I must have been living in a hole the past several months. I knew CA was on the brink, but didn't know anything about them actually stealing from my paycheck.

1. What's your interest rate?
As the lender, you do get to set an interest rate, right?

Oh... No?

2. Isn't that what they already did to the cities last year?
Basically, just appropriate their budget money for the state?

Prop-13, the gift that just keeps on giving...

5. He can't be re-elected... That's what Republicans do!
He came on, lowered car registration... ran the state into a big ol' hole... then jacked our taxes up just before he bails.

Ahnold has been a royal ass since day one. Good riddance.

10. Yes... on Friday the 13th, actually...
The day I got my most recent paycheck, and noticed it was missing something... like some money. It was buried deeply in the news.

8. I'm sorry, I'm a little confused.
What else is new lol, but what did they do? Did they jack your state income tax for this month or just grab a piece slipping a letter inside your pay envelope detailing the deed.

12. They didn't change the tax rate.
That would have had to have happened in the light of day, so instead they just decided to collect a little more "In advance". Supposedly we'll get it back when we file.

13. shoot (subtract the 2 o's put in an I)
I'm so sorry, good luck getting it back. People really need to stop and think about the kind of power Govt has over our paychecks, it's fricking scary. That's a wicked entitlement mentality Arnold and his cronies have.

9. If this is a real problem for you
change your withholding. Do it just enough to cover the difference, unless you don't mind owing the state at the end of the year. I've decided I'd rather owe a little than get a refund - because I don't trust them not to send me an IOU instead of a check. There are online calculators that can show you how a change in deductions will affect your net.

16. Personally don't care
That state is in heavy debt and any smart government would have raised taxes. In California we the people totally broke our legislatures ability to actually tax in a progressive fashion. So frankly I'm not surprised they have to do stunts like this. I credit the state with coming up with yet another funny work around for prop 13. Just a bigger write off on my federal taxes.
