UK has a nuke plant event

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

Ten fire crews tackled a blaze at Dungeness B nuclear power station last night (Mon, Nov 23). The plant was partially shut down after a boiler fire and the station’s own fire teams were helped by crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service. There were no injuries among the 52 staff evacuated after the alarm was raised just before midnight. A KFRS spokesman said the blaze had been extinguished by 2am and four fire crews remained at the scene at 9am this morning. It is not thought power supplies will be affected. Martyn Butlin, of Dungeness operator British Energy, said: “A small fire started in the boiler annex of unit 22. “We activated our usual procedure and have our fire teams on site, but we always call in Kent Fire and Rescue to double-check on what we do. “They put out the blaze and turned off the reactor and we are looking into the cause now. “We plan for all eventualities, including this one.”

7. I respond so that others reading your reports...
will know that your "events" are in actuality, very minor incidents, and are not specific to the nuclear industry.

11. Link no-worky, but looks like this was no Chernobyl.
It was a small fire, quickly put out, and the fire crews did the right thing, called for backup, made damned fucking sure the fire was 100% out, and that there was no radiation release.

12. So it was actually just a small fire event. And the sky is not falling
after all?

14. Yup, and be ready for another post about a non-event...
at Beaver Valley generating station in Pennsylvania. The OP's favourite disaster reporting site now has information about a leaky pipe that took an hour to repair.
