Odd republican reveal moment...
So here I am minding my own business and up walks a co-worker.

I would say this co-worker and I are pretty good friends.

She is an avid environmentalist, at one time in her life needed food stamps and welfare to get by, exhibits clear thought and rational thinking, but then she let this comment loose and I was really surprised...

"I maybe a republican..."

For the longest time, from everything we have spoken about in the past to the present, all her views were down the party line of a democrat.

I just couldn't believe it. Everything for the next 5 minutes just didn't register. I was shocked. I think I did my best to contain my complete and utter disbelief, but LOL, I don't think I did a great job.

her following statement, after that bombshell, was even more interesting, "but that sarah palin is a dumb ass".

I live in Texas and I have met many a person who claims to be a repub, but because they are so colossally brainwashed in this state, automatically think they are a republican when they clearly exhibit democrat favor.

It's just so freaking weird.

So needless to say, I took my jabs at palin and basically said, "I have never ever seen on person single handedly destroy the republican party".

My friend, had to nod in agreement.

Fascinating.

1. Sarah didn't harm the Republican party
She doesn't have that much impact.

Bush/Cheney did most of the destruction. With hefty contributions from Richard Nixon, and from Ralph Reed.

3. w/o being installed to implement PNAC plans, the public NEVER would've accepted them again
... not in their preferred, overtly far-right mode, anyway...which they were only able to pull off so brazenly since everything was rigged and staged specifically geared toward that degree of bluster to rally the cry over a new, lucrative 'enemy.'

4. I actually had a Texan tell me that because Texas is a republic
all citizens (might have meant natives) are therefore Republican. Straight faced. No irony.

The first time I ever voted in an election in Texas I got a big laugh out of the gathered voters when after perusing a ballot I foolishly wondered aloud, "where the hell are all the Democrats?". :dunce:

5. I notice the same phenomena
a lot of white churchy middle class types think they must be republican.
The only explanations are that repubs are successful at marketing (lying) and the dem party is so terrible at marketing/organization.

6. I know some Republicans like this, actually
Who are Republican because the NRA has told them Obama wants to take their guns away, or some similar thing. Seriously. Or maybe it's abortion or because they are Christian.

In short, your next goal is to let her know gently that she's being lied to.

7. Palin is just a cardboard cutout.

Seriously...the only reason she is constantly in the press, is that there is serious money behind keeping her name in the press. They think that she gives what is left of the repuke party the best chance in 2012. All they want in 2012, is a W-ronnieraygun-style face to put on the TV that will do nothing but simply sign anything that their lobbyists put in front of them to sign.

The powers that be, those who are in control of most of the actual real wealth in this country, could push a fucking mannequin out as the republican nominee. The truly sad part is...the fucking mannequin will get 48 percent of the votes.

And the repuke party is far from dead...how can the party that reps all of the real wealth in this country ever go away? I'm reminded of Kaiser Sose whenever I hear that. "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was to convince the world he didn't exist."
