I don't think I've ever heard a better one!

The Bishop of course said Pat Kennedy & all Catholic politicians must vote against abortion of not take communion. Chris aske him what law would HE write? He said to abolish abortion. Chris then asked what punishment would he assign to this crime? The Bishop didn't know. Chris "Would you put them in prison?" Bishop "No I don't think so." Chris "If you want to make abortion a crime and you aren't willing to punish the perps then it's not a crime is it?" Bishop "It's killing a living being." Chris Bishop, you're arguing a moral fight against a secular law! You've failed to change people's behavior through your teaching so now you're going to try to use the law! I think you should stick to your teaching and let the law making to Congress?"

Of course I'm speaking from memory so I may have gotten a few of the words wrong, but it's close. THAT was the best argument I've heard against all the fundies and their obcession with the abortion issue!

1. Perhaps you mean a great argument?
I heard it, and I thought this was one of his very good moments. But I think you have a typo in the title.

5. Sorry, I fixed it. It's late and I was trying to type fast.
My grannddaughter was on the computer until 11PM and this was the first chance I had to post. I'm still HAPPY about the argument Chris presented. Like it or not RW, Chris won this one!!!! You really can't have a crime without a punishment!

2. You got it close enough - he did a great job of framing
Kept the posts nice and close together and just kept bearing down - it was a memorable day - I'm much appreciative of what he accomplished tonight.

6. You got it right. I think his best point was that about "you failed to change
people's behavior through your teaching so now you're trying to use the law".

Mature, responsible adults do not depend upon others to tell them or make them do what is right. Though there are Catholics who do function as autonomous moral agents, the church does not want them to do so. It wants children, because, otherwise, it would be out of business.

8. I always wonder why people don't ask, if it's murder
Like, taking a morning after pill is "murder?" They want that to be the law like you take an aborting drug (many abortions are done non-surgically with drugs at home and during the first six weeks)

So outlaw that and it's a new "war on drugs" thing, how many years in jail should a woman get for such a "murder?" Tweety is right anybody who says one MINUTE in jail would seem like a nut and they KNOW these "murder" allegations are not true.

10. I have often shut up the self-righteous womb controllers
when they crow on and on about "killing a human life". . .first I ask when someone becomes an American citizen (try the word "BORN") but the killer is: "So. . .if abortion is murder, would a miscarriage be manslaughter? And how shall we investigate whether it was voluntary or involuntary. . ?"

There is usually dead silence - as if the womb controllers had never considered anything but wingnut talking points.
