KKK Growing In Tulsa (and the reasons why are....)
KKK Growing In Tulsa

The Southern Poverty Law Center reports a surge in what it calls "hate groups". According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, there are 19 active groups in Oklahoma, including the Ku Klux Klan. FOX23's Emily Sinovic found out there is an active KKK chapter in Tulsa. Members are actively recruiting other members, and the leader of the chapter tells Emily it's working. New members are joining all the time.

...

In 2001, according to the SPLC, there were two active KKK groups in Oklahoma, right now, the SPLC reports there are seven active chapters of the KKK.

....

Tinker said they are getting new members all the time. He said, "They realize we're out here to make this a better nation."

The Tulsa chapter leader said the down economy has motivated many people to join.

Tinker said, "We're everywhere. We are doctors we are lawyers we are police we are school teachers we are judges we are attorneys. Everywhere. Not just in tulsa. Anywhere and everywhere. We could be the guy next door. We've got people of all walks of life that are a part of this."

....

The flier addresses political issues, preaching a need to fix our government, turn the economy around, and get religion back into school. There are also references to segregation and racial separation.

1. KKK members are absolute losers. And they're wearing the dunce caps
that prove it.

ANY white person in this country has had it so good for so long, that to have to put down another group to make themselves feel better is simply pitiful.

9. I've always wondered if they are so proud of their beliefs then
why do they cover their faces? Oooh, so mysterious. Ugh! So grossly disgusting is more like it.

17. Yes, exactly.
Hiding their faces and wearing dunce caps. And they're too thick to get it.

4. No surprises.
Tulsa has a large gay community and Jewish community for the area. Every June at the pride march, the Klan showed, but it was the neo-Nazis that made a HUGE showing. They terrified my students.

Tinker said, "We're everywhere. We are doctors we are lawyers we are police we are school teachers we are judges we are attorneys. Everywhere. Not just in tulsa. Anywhere and everywhere. We could be the guy next door. We've got people of all walks of life that are a part of this."

Paula Cole sang about this years ago...

HITLER'S BROTHERS

Little boy, tries to hide,
>From the fire in his backyard.
Burning cross, white cloth,
It's the second time this year.

Hitler's Brothers are still alive,
They're wearing everyday disguises.

A woman runs, for asylum,
She's the only one of her kind in this neighborhood.
She knows who they were,
They don't believe a word,
The cops just turn their heads to protect their friends.

Hitler's Brothers are still alive,
Their army seems to grow in size,
Hitler's Brothers are on the rise,
They're wearing everyday disguises.
...In camouflage or business suits.

Another man, bound and gagged,
Tied upon the railroad tracks.
At nine pm, the B & M (Boston & Maine)
Rolled across his yellow skin.

Hitler's Brothers are still alive,
Their army seems to grow in size,
Hitler's Brothers are on the rise,
They're wearing everyday disguises.
In camouflage or business suits,
Checkered aprons, combat boots,
Time to let those feelings go,
Hatred only kills your souls

10. Who cares? Fuck those impotent rednecks.
They are few, and they just don't matter.

So, fuck 'em. They can dance around with all their redneck buddies all they want. Nobody gives two shits about them anymore.

13. But it only takes one with a gun and the will power to pull the trigger to inflict the damage.
Hell, it would only take one or two to make a 5,000lb. truck bomb to blow up a church with a predominantly Black congregation. The KKK are often ridiculed, but they're not impotent. The body count is a testament to that, and as a resident of Mississippi, I'd beg you to reconsider your stance.

20. More than several hundred if you count in lynchings. There hasn't been a thorough study done.
Likely, it is at least several hundred.

No Scooter...you're the guy pumping gas with nothing to be proud of except the color of your skin...even if it were a source of superiourity it is something of which you did not accomplish but were born with.

15. I think the KKK is lying. No self respecting bigot would be associated with the KKK.
KKK is synonymous with slack jawwed sister fucking rural dumbass or midwestern basement dweller. It's not like "redneck" or "cracker" which has an element of manliness and rejection of elitist Dr. Phil demasculation. Redneck brings to mind John Cena and the Dukes of Hazard, KKK brings to mind liver spotted old men and the cast of Deliverance.

18. Oklahoma has a lot of racism.
My house was built in 1957 and the neighborhood has a restrictive covenant. Many towns here had sundown laws. There is still a lot of overt bigotry and racism here. Our politicians are on the fringe of the RW. This state needs help.
