My 53 yr old humble opinion on the whole mess,,,
1) Get the eff outa Iraq
2) Get the eff outa Afganistan
3) Pull our troops bak home and allow them to heal
4) at the same time focus on OUR COUNTRY totally and completely, thereby allowing it to heal as well
5) The people is how OUR COUNTRY should be focused upon
their health, their jobs, their families
6) No more CORP welfare, just because by law they are people, they have received the vast majority of the welfare.
7) Focus on the small and the bigger picture will become clearer to all,,,

If Campaign Finance Reform were to happen ... nice pipe dream though. :)

9. "campaign finance reform"

it's kind of ridiculous to expect a group of people to voluntarily cut off their own lifeblood.

That one needs more support from his own party.

19. how is it not meaningless?
2 or 3 votes toward a possible congressional bill accomplishes absolutely nothing.

21. It's not meaningless
because it means a great deal to me to know that there ARE a few politicians who have some integrity left.

It means that hope, while on life-support, is not dead.

23. so- it's not meaningless to YOU, personally...
Edited on Tue Nov-24-09 07:25 PM by dysfunctional press
but in terms of changing anything about the process- it's completely meaningless.

24. I don't think so.
The process has no chance to change if there is no one to take up that cause.

26. Slim chances are not the same thing as meaningless.
There was a time when we would have said the same about:

abolition

the vote for women

etc., etc., etc..

It takes people with vision and commitment to carry an idea forward until it can be made real.

27. slim and nil are two different things as well.
plus- things like abolition, the vote for women, etc. etc. etc. were all about directly expanding freedoms for groups of people.

8. give yourself ten more years . . .
then you'll probably arrive at a "fuck it all" position -- which is about where I am after 63 years on the planet . . . I mean, if someone like Obama can't (or won't) take on the corporate powers, then we have NO chance of real change in our lifetimes, imo . . . might just as well spend my time growing tomatoes and making pizza, and leave the politicking to the younger generations . . . I'm too tired to care anymore . . .
