"Rich Irony" - What Psalms 109 is really about - (those who choose the verse have NO idea)

What Psalms 109 is really about
The rich irony is that those who have chosen this Bible verse as a slogan clearly have no idea of the context and meaning of that which they quote:

In Psalms 109, King David, who is one of the revered heroes of the Old Testament is lamenting. He says:

For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me,
speaking against me with lying tongues.
They beset me with words of hate,
and attack me without cause.
In return for my love they accuse me,
even while I make prayer for them.
So they reward me evil for good,
and hatred for my love.

For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me? He goes on:

They say, Appoint a wicked man against him;
let an accuser stand on his right.
When he is tried, let him be found guilty;
let his prayer be counted as sin.
May his days be few;
may another seize his position.
May his children be orphans,
and his wife a widow.
May his children wander about and beg;
may they be driven out of the ruins they inhabit.
May the creditor seize all that he has;
may strangers plunder the fruits of his toil.

And then King David says,

Help me, O Lord my God!
Save me according to your steadfast love.
Let them know that this is your hand;
you, O Lord, have done it.
Let them curse, but you will bless.
Let my assailants be put to shame; may your servant be glad.
May my accusers be clothed with dishonour;
may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a mantle.
With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord;
I will praise him in the midst of the throng.
For he stands at the right hand of the needy,
to save them from those who would condemn them to death.

For those would quote the Bible for their justifications, wouldn’t you think they can do a bit better than this?

4. republicans have to project, there's no way they're able to admit that they *are*...
the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men and women. Typically anti-Christian, republicans splinter without remorse a Scripture that has bid them otherwise through no-less than the voice' Moses and John the Baptist

"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and the things which are written in this book."

republicans are batting -1,000 in the game they think they're winning, they're just too ignorant to know why

5. How about we print this off, make copies and put it under the windshield
of any vehicle that has this bumper sticker? Might work, but then those who are using this verse clearly haven't read the entire Psalm and wouldn't understand what it was saying it they did. Kinda like when John says "If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?" Or the verses in the New Testament about praying for those in authority. Or all those words Jesus said about love and compassion...

As a lapsed Baptist, I no longer have any patience for those "Christians" who spew nothing but hatred. Shame on them.
