Most of my family will be spending Thanksgiving in the hospital this year
Last week my mother in law, who has been really a mother to me since mine died in 1996 of lung cancer at the age of 51 was put in the hospital after a couple of weeks of feeling a little weak in her legs. She ended up being completely incapacitated and when they brought her in, they found a brain tumor.

My mother in law and I went through breast cancer together last year, being diagnosed only six months apart. Where this tumor came from, whether it is a recurrence of the cancer or a totally new thing we don't know yet. We don't even know if its cancer yet. We are praying it isn't.

So this Thursday, my husband's brother, sister, her boyfriend and their dad are going to be spending it in the hospital with mom. We would be there too except for the fact the hospital isn't allowing children under 18 into the hospital so my husband is spending the holiday at home with us and then is going in to be with his mom on Friday.

So please think of us before the petty bickering starts this holiday week, not that under different circumstances we would be any different. But I only tell you this so you can maybe take a breath and appreciate who you are with this year because we really don't know what is going to happen a year from now.
Love to all
Robyn

2. My dear Robyn66...
My best vibes to your mother in law, and to all of you during this difficult time...

Life can turn in an instant...

Appreciate your loved ones, and let them know you love them! You never know when the time will come when you won't be able to say it, or they won't be able to hear it...

3. My heart goes out to you.
I'll be spending the day with an elderly, but spry Mom and her seriously ill life-long bachelor brother.

He has been a second father to me since my father died in 1992, and this could be his last Thanksgiving.

So, Robyn, you are right. We really never know what will happen in the next year. Enjoy what you have now.

6. I will think of you and my friend, who is also spending the holidays in the hospital.
This time last year things were going well for him, however, several months ago his daughter had a relapse of leukemia and is now undergoing stem cell therapy.

Love and peace to all, as one truly never knows what the future holds in store.

7. My prayers are with you, Robyn.
I've spent holidays in the hospital before, and, yes, every day with our loved ones is special, whether bickering or not.

That's no way to spend the holidays. My sister will be getting out of the hospital on Thanksgiving/her son's B-Day, but at lease we'll have her with us. I'm sending all the healing thoughts and peace I can muster for your mother-in-law, you and your family.

13. Oh Robyn, that was my Thanksgiving last year. My m-i-l was admitted to the
hospital the day before Thanksgiving, subsequently diagnosed with leukemia, and didn't get out of the hospital until Christmas. Even then it was just for a couple of days before she had to go back. She was in and out of the hospital until May. The good news is she's doing great, the cancer is in complete remission.

I hope your m-i-l pull through whatever it is with flying colors.
