Uppity what is the context?
Link please!

You might want to fix the question!! Remove the word "are" before persuasive.

8. There are, and have been, many posts that this relates to, so am wondering how effective they
actually are. Try shopping baskets, or Olive Garden, not to mention breast feeding or guns. Have you ever been persuaded by one?

15. No, and that's why I don't post them.
I also don't post callout threads.

9. Ha! Well put. I'd add building straw men burns a few calories, too.
Generally speaking, full-time asshattery is a tough gig, even if you can get it. :D

22. Did anyone in your family die in the Holocaust? Some people in mine did.
I, for one, am sick of that particular bit of horror being used to justify shit like some asshat's self-righteous vegan agenda. My ancestors were not chickens and Col. Sanders is not Hitler.

A "truly enlightened perspective" includes minding your own fucking business on things like choice of diet.

27. I should have employed a sarcasm icon.
Edited on Sun Nov-22-09 09:25 PM by JVS
My intention was to mock the self-righteous' instant glomming onto the most horrific thing possible in order to condemn those who are not in agreement with them.

I figured the over the top self-righteousness of my post would give the sarcastic intent away.

29. As with zealously attaching U to posts:
No one has to read every single post here. Ignoring one and let them sink can accomplish whatever the Uers wish.

Same with sanctimonious posts.

Oh, and I did recommend your post as I do with each that has "less than 0."

30. I have read a good many sanctimonious and self-righteous posts here at DU.
I think there are those here who believe being sanctimonious and self-righteous are endearing and noble traits. I like to simply UnRec them and do not respond so I do not give them a kick. Better to let them sink.

47. I think you should look at those posts as DU Tradition
Every year, without fail, we have:

(a) Columbus Day genocide threads;
(b) Threads that ridicule Easter;
(c) Thanksgiving genocide threads;
(d) Threads mocking the "Christmas Wars";
(e) JFK memorials / Bush I Killed JFK threads;
(f) 9/11 Truth threads
(g) America-bashing 4th of July threads;
(h) Hiroshima/Nagasaki Armchair President threads

Just to name a few. You can take the bulk of those threads and just change the year, and you'd never know the difference. It's tradition.

I can't think for myself but I joined this great group and we all agree on what we believe.

Sounds like a conservative thing but let's not get too complacent on that score.
