How many Sarah Palin books did Newsmax purchase ??
Newsmax has been advertising special discounts for Sarah Palin books on television, even on MSNBC, their hated liberal media. They are asking 4.98 for the book and you can get 4 free months of Newsmax. What an offer! It's a saving of 24.00!

They must have purchased a good load of them in order to advertise over the television with such an offer? How many do you think they bought? 10,000 copies? More?

1. It's A Consignment Deal...
The fact they're hawking that bird cage liner on a national ad is how they get the "book" at discount. They'll "purchase" as many as people order...could be 10,000, could be only 50. No money changes hands except for the teevee time.

2. Most of them. Harper-Collins is a Murdoch company anyway - they probably burned them.
I don't trust a thing they say about the sales. It is all fluff.

3. This is how books by Coulter, etc, get on NY times bestseller list
RW 'think' tanks buy them up in the 10,000 lot and hand them out on RW websites.

9. IMO bulk sales to RW organizations help but...
I think there are enough RW numbnuts out there buying this garbage to put them on the NY Times best seller list. It doesnt take as many sales as one would think to make best seller lists.

http://www.slate.com/id/2108296/">Here's a good Slate article which discusses the best seller lists.

excerpt...

So how many books do you actually need to sell to make it onto, say, the Times list? There is no defined threshold, but according to the Stanford study, one book made the hardcover fiction list selling only 2,108 copies a week; more typically, the median weekly sales figure in the study was 18,717. And most books can't keep even these modest sale rates up for long: Sales generally peak during a book's second week on the list and then steadily decline. Over a period of six months, the median best seller in the Stanford study averaged weekly sales of just over 3,600 copies.

11. yep.. and just HOW is she gonna make "millions" on a book selling for $5?
How much does an author get per book?..and isn't the advance contingent on the amount actually sold? What if you get a million advance, and the book sells 1,500 copies?..do they ask for money back?

4. This is why books written by rightwingers place so high on the NYT bestseller list
RW organizations purchase them by the shitload. Newsmax will take a loss on the deal but it will push the sales of Palin's tripe skyhigh.

5. Maybe That's Why She Plugged Them
when she finally fessed up to what she read.

Of course, I don't believe she reads anything, but if true, Newsmax would be on her list.

7. Newsmax was first out of her mouth when she finally answered
Katie's "What do you read?" question a year late.

6. How do you think the book was on the best seller list before it was released
They bought them up to get her on the best seller list and now they have to dump them.
