Research help: Where was McCain?
Hopefully, someone can give me a quicky answer.

I noticed that during Saturday Night's Senate final health care vote, the final vote was 60 to 39. McCain didn't vote. Why not? He's been a vocal opponent of the bill, threatening Harry Reid that he'd fight the bill all the way. So what happened? After much Googling, I can find nothing about his abstention, and McCain's homepage says even less.

I'm working on my latest blog report.

5. Voinovich - Who wept as he voted to allow that mustached idiot Bolton to go to the UN?
He's a closet liberal but wholly owned by his party. Anyway, McCain? Meh. I have zero expectations of that dude.

8. I agree McCain did vote NO and Voinovich did not vote
But the site shows:

Number: H.R. 3590 (Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009 )

Measure Title: A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for other purposes.

Does not sound like Health Care Bill???????
:silly:

10. It is - I don't quite understand the reason, but it has something to do with procedure
They dig up a House bill and substitute everything there with the Senate bill. This is why it is sometimes hard to find votes on the bill - but if you watched, they even called it that.

9. The way this thing is formatted, not being there is as good as a no
They need 60 yes votes, the number of nos doesn't matter.
