Action: How to bring down an auto dealership? One word: Birther
Wolf Automotive, off I-70 in Wheatridge Colorado must know that things are already tough for an auto dealership. So why would the nutcase birther who owns it do anything to make his chances of survival even worse?
<snip>
Wolf added that he and the staff at his dealership have been receiving a significant number of death threats in response to the billboard. “I never expected people to threaten to kill us,” he told us. “I never expected people to harm my employees. … I’ve had people leave the office today — they’re terrified.”

Wolf also denied that the billboard is making a “racist comment,” calling such a notion “absolutely hilarious” and pointing out that in the presidential election, he wrote in the name of conservative Alan Keyes.

In the past, Wolf’s billboard has featured other birther designs, as well as regular advertisements for cars. Wolf denied that the billboard has any affiliation with WorldNetDaily, which has sponsored other birther signs around the country.
ProgressNow Colorado has launched a campaign asking people to boycott Wolf’s business.

Death threats...not good. Boycott....priceless.

1. A hot dog stand in my town put up a sign saying
"Free John McCain All-American Meal." This was shortly before the election. Not long after, the place was out of business.

This is a red state, but there are still enough of us to seriously hurt business when someone does something so foolish. I know my wife was always planning to stop there sometime until they put up that sign. That was the end of that.

2. And yet, he brought up "Sambo" in another interview
http://www.denverpost.com/littwin/ci_13843316?source=rsshomecol

Well, I wasn't going to write about it — and then I talked to Wolf, who happily answered all my questions. He thinks Obama is a Muslim. When I said that Obama says he's a Christian, he answered, "Hitler said he was a Christian, too. So there's precedent."

That's when you should know not to argue anymore. I mean, what do you say? When I asked if the sign looked racist, Wolf said, "I don't look at the skin color." He pointed out that he is married to a Latina and that he wrote in Alan Keyes' name for president, which tells you a lot.

But the sign? "He's black, isn't he?" Wolf asked of Obama. "It's a cartoon." I was going to note that little black Sambo was black as well, but I couldn't see the point.

20. Right!
Sambo references always pepper my every-day, non-racist conversations. Love that little butter pat boy! :loveya:

:sarcasm: obviously.

5. I am surprised Suzuki and Chrysler want a nut case like that associated
with their brands.
All Chrysler needs is a boycott on their products as an extension and they would probably fold.

12. This is an interesting point.
I would've thought that there would be something in the franchise agreements about controversial signage or something.

4. It's his business; he can put up signs if he wants
however, customers have the right not to spend their hard-earned money at his business if they so choose. Tough titties there, Mr. Wolf. Or, are you a COMMUNIST!?

6. Can he produce evidence of these alleged death threats?
I'm inclined to call bullshit on this 'significant number of death threats' he alleges have occurred against him, but especially those he claims have been made against his employees. What better way to rally his workforce than to claim they're all targets of the gawdless socialists?

19. Well, I know I sent an email to one of his sales people.
Because there's no way to contact Phil-boy himself via the web page. I didn't include death threats in my message, but maybe someone else did. It only takes one OTT response form the left for him to claim multiple death threats. Then again, he's a birther so the true is irrelevant to him; in all likelihood he's just gotten nasty emails calling him a racist and he's interpreted that as a death threat.
:nopity:

10. Revolution... prepare for war... live free or die...
I'm all for free speech, but somebody probably really ought to be keeping a close eye on all of this.

Granted, 95% of these people are undoubtedly just blowhards. But that other 5% can cause a lot of trouble...

8. This guy is soooo going out of business...
But what about the teabaggers and freepers who will support him, you might ask? Well, they will "support" him the way they do everything they believe in - with lip service. No cheapskate teabagger is actually going to pop for a car they wouldn't have bought otherwise just to support this guy - but every Democrat and pretty much anybody sensible *will* avoid him. That means losses.

11. I Saw An Interview With This Jerk On Denver TV.

He's clearly shaken up by the response to his ugly little sign. Serves him right, but I can't help feeling bad for his employees, even the ones who might share his nut-case views. There's a valuable lesson kicking around here, somewhere......

14. Two parts of this guy's story that are obvious bullshit:
1.I doubt very much he's gotten death threats. That's the wingnut fantasy: anything to piss of the liberals, liberals go crazy with rage, therefore wingnuts are justified in shooting liberals. Wolverines!

2.Sure he voted for Alan Keyes. Sure he did.

27. I thought liberals were a bunch of lily-livered cowards
who run scared when confronted or want to hold hands and sing.

I wonder what goes on in their heads that they can simultaneously put out those types of caricatures and then claim this same group is make death threats.

And how are they going to carry the death threats out? Wouldn't the gunless liberals be out firepowered by the "patriots"?

15. If he's that stupid, he can't be much of a businessman.
Despite idealogical reasons, that's a very good practical reason to avoid his business. No doubt he cheats his customers to stay in business and turn a profit, otherwise he would have gone out of business a long time because of his blatant stupidity.
