Mixed Feelings at Healthcare's Procedural Vote
No celebration, no way. I watched the voting on cspan. Anti-climactically since the 60 votes were reported as committed. Could not rev up the slightest joy or sense of pride in my nation. We got through this landmine only by stuffing pork in Democratic pockets. So what did we get from all this? A miserable bought and paid for party-line Yes on a lousy Procedural vote. Here we are, the only wealthy nation that does not provide for universal healthcare, and the most we could squeeze out of the elected class is the grudging right to discuss the matter.

I would have dropped into total despair for democracy if the vote had FAILED. But frankly I'm ashamed of my country.

1. The fact is we are in the majority
We can rule the day while the Republicans have to go home. The obstructionist tactics of saying NO to every piece of legalization we put up is not going to stand. We hold a majority in the House, the Senate, and we hold the Executive branch. The Republicans need to get used to this fact, and act accordingly
