Anthony Weiner Has a Bone to Pick With His Old Roommate Jon Stewart

Its a semi-known and entirely weird fact that, after college, New York congressman Anthony Weiner and Daily Show host Jon Stewart shared an apartment in Soho. Well, technically, Stewart and Weiner's girlfriend shared an apartment, and Weiner was the guy who was there all the time, walking around in his boxers and drinking the last of the milk. "I was living there more or less because I was bumming off of my girlfriend," Weiner tells City Scoops today. "Technically speaking, I was living in my mom’s house." But they still talk, and Weiner dutifully TiVos The Daily Show every day. But he's not sure if he likes it. "I think it has a bit of a corrosive effect on my business," he says.

2. Weiner Was Keeping An Eye on Stewart That's Why He Was Always Around
I know that move. Stewart and Weiner's girlfriend are home on a rainy night watching a romantic movie, and the next thing you know, bom chicca bow wow wow.

4. I really like the guy, but Weiner is way off base here.
The cynicism exists not because of the exposure of politicians doing dumb or stupid things, heck it's a bit endearing to see them make stupid jokes or mistakes, it humanizes them a bit. The cynicism exists because of the massive blatant corruption and cynicism in Washington that is obvious to anyone who's paying attention. E.g. Blanche Lincoln opposing a public option even though it favored by her constituents by a nearly 20 point margin. The way that the rabid right will repeat any lie and promote any distortion for momentary political gain no matter how baldfaced or ridiculous it is or how it undermines the functioning of the government, death panels, birth certificates, and anything that comes out of any Cheneys mouth as examples. There are plenty of things to be (rightly) cynical about in washington, Anthony Weiner is not one of them. If only all our elected officials were as conscientious as him, but he needs to realize that however he may feel about his colleagues, many of them are not even close.
