4. When you are bored on a long plane trip and
have a window seat.. You don't need to stare aimlessly below, should you choose to earthgaze.. Geology is everywhere.

6. I like to look at formations and try to figure out what happened.
Not very good at it but you're right, there are puzzles everywhere.

7. It's fascinating when I'm very mortal - it would be crucial if I were immortal.
Our blue orb can be very inhospitable at times.

8. I've already played this game in my head: I wouldn't care.
Some people won't even click on my post, because they think I wouldn't give a shit. But that's not what I mean. I have thought about being immortal or being omnipotent (which if you are immortal then you are almost omnipotent, but it takes longer to get stuff done). I start off with all the good that I would do, and be able to do because if I were immortal then I would have been immortal a long time ago, and have acquired virtually unlimited wealth and power, etc.... and it keeps coming back to the same thing: when you are that powerful you don't see the world the same way. What does it matter if the Israelis and Palestinians kill each other off completely? Nothing to me. How about if China or Nigeria starved to death? No big deal. Because in the greater scheme of things, everyone who isn't immortal is going to die. If you are immortal, thousands of people you have loved over the centuries have died, the same as everyone you didn't love. It simply wouldn't matter.

19. Remember platform shoes?
They made guys who were 5'10" tall six-four. But they made guys who were six feet tall six-six.

20. Are you suggesting that as an immortal you wouldn't care about
the fate of immortals who were born before you were born?

11. Well, we could spend more time at it.
:)

I'll never forget a geology field trip to the coast where our prof pointed up and down the beach and said, that all used to be in San Diego.

12. No way....
If I were immortal, I'd have a greater interest in maths (and that's saying something).

Think of all the problems that could be solved, given infinite time.... (drools)

Evolution would be a secondary interest, when I needed to relax the brain.

14. I think if I were immortal
I would be terribly lonely, losing everyone I loved, and would sequester myself to shield myself from the pain of attachment and dedicate my time to learning ways to make life better for the lucky mortal people.
