Bimbo Orrin Hatch proclaims Europeans are becoming less Europeanized (ref: healthcare)
Edited on Sat Nov-21-09 09:41 PM by dusmcj
Along with Lamer, excuse me, Lamar Alexander crowing about the "arrogance" of people thinking they know better than "the American people" about how to do health care, Orrin Hatch pipes up with his little pointy face about how we wouldn't want to 'Europeanize' US health care, what with the Europeans becoming less Europeanized.

He knows what he's saying, and so do we - there's a certain stench of flatulent Thatcherite neoliberalism trying to gain momentum in the usual way, with a fast thrust against their worst enemy, rational humanists, and the concomittant attempt to turn the mass public into ignorant consumer-oriented drones. As the President of Portugal perceptively noted at the 50th annniversary of NATO, what is under threat, directly, are the values of the Enlightenment, and the hope for something other than benighted barbarism they bring to humanity.

But for those allegedly un-Europeanized Europeans, this is old shit, and they've seen vermin like this appear before, recently in the populist "People's Parties" of various nations, and before that in the pigs who abetted the Nazis and legitimized them to the bourgeoisie. Thankfully the Europeans are not as ignorant on average as the Americans, and value cultural standards higher than acquisition so that little Orrin's fantasy will have to go unrequited.

Good luck, asshole.

the intertextualization of the gender narrative and all that.

No, rational humanism as identified by the Reformation and then the Enlightenment is actually the antidote to the endless cycle of benighted pursuit of perceived self-interest by those whose imaginations are too stunted to imagine a world not based on dominance relations (which the litcrit crowd aren't immune to NB). It's been here much longer then those enslaved minds, and in fact much longer than the Reformation or the Enlightenment.

The best (in the sense of, this is as good as the evolution of human culture and intellectual product has gotten) philosophical and religious traditions over the ages discovered the same truths, maybe named them differently, but the content is recognizable from instance to instance. And always they are met by what they threaten most, the ethically weak, the ignorant, and above all the greedy. Who attempt to prescribe that fear and greed are as good as it gets, that we should play along with the game because to question whether there is anything else would be to threaten those who are so heavily invested in it and not competent enough to operate in more functional systems.

6. Thanks for confirming the litcrit-dar is functioning properly.
It makes little difference whether it be vocation or avocation.

8. "less Europeanized??!!" what the hell does that mean?
EU countries are NOT losing their solidarity, sorry.

Take away their NHC service and the entire EU would erupt in uber-revolution; not a single rep would be left alive.

13. It's true, I become less "Europeanized" every day -
How I long for a system where my MS wouldn't get treated because its a pre-existing condition! How I wish I had to pay for the seven prescription medicines I have to take every day! I suffer so badly under our Socialized health care system when all I really want is a Big Mac on every table and a chance to shop at Wal-Mart.
