E-mail from Rep Alan (Captain Cojones) Grayson: MESSAGE TO SEN REID:
Dear gateley,

Every day, 120 people die because they have no health insurance. The House recently passed a health care reform bill that will stop this senseless loss of life. But now it's stalled in the Senate. In fact, since Obama was elected, nearly all Democratic initiatives that help ordinary people have been stalled in the Senate.

When George W. Bush was President, the Senate passed his prescription drug plan, his energy policy, his tax bills, his free trade agreements, his judges, and his budgets requiring just 51 votes. But now that Democrats are in charge, we're told that the only way to get things through the Senate is with 60 people in support.

It's time for this to end. Tell Senator Reid to modify the rules of the Senate to require only 55 votes to invoke cloture instead of 60.

Click here to sign my petition to stop Senate stalling.

Why should launching wars and cutting taxes for the rich require only 51 votes while saving lives requires 60?

Sincerely,

Alan Grayson

(There's a petition at the link - so far over 3600 people have signed it)

3. Signed and got my answer from Grayson!
Dear Cha,

Thanks so much for signing our petition.

Health care is too important to fail in the Senate. Why should launching wars and cutting taxes for the rich require only 50 votes while saving lives requires 60?

Tell your friends to join us in calling for an end to this unfair system. Forward this message to five friends, and urge them to sign the petition at:

http://StopSenateStalling.com

It's time for Majority Leader Reid to modify the rules of the Senate to require only 55 votes to invoke cloture instead of 60.

Thank You,

Alan Grayson
U.S. Congressman

6. Thanks~! I didn't even read my response. I was so proud to have my
name listed on the petition!! (It's moving along at a rapid clip!)

He makes so much sense -- and we've been bemoaning that for a long time. Why was Bushco able to get anything and everything passed no problem, yet we have to beg and fight for something that should be a human right! :grr:

4. Yay, Rep Grayson!!! Sadly, I fear Harry will pointedly ignore this plea from
one of the Little People in the House.

Grayson will make it difficult to be ignored, don't you think?? :7

11. I'm all for that.

But fifty-five is giving way too much latitude IMHO. At the rate we are going
now it will take forever to get this country back on the right track. I like
the way Grayson thinks. I wish we had more like him.

taken note on how much support he's receiving.

22. It comes and goes but ...
Edited on Sun Nov-22-09 11:00 AM by mntleo2
We live in a ravine that sometimes acts as a wind "tunnel" and other times just goes over the top of us.

Our biggest concern is a creek running behind us that when it swells, keeps eating up the banks and is getting closer and closer to our building as the creek rages past when it rains heavily. Thanks to the idiots in our community, we have greedy city council members (Briar and Kenmore), who've ok'd a heeeuuuuge complex up creek where they are cutting down 700 more trees along side the creek and it will be soon our complex will fall if something isn't done. Of course our landlord is "responsible' for fixing it but it will cost over $500,000 he doesn't have. Not making this up.

Recently when one of their council members went to the State Attorny General to report his council members' secret votes that won't show up anywhere for them to be respsonsible, which they weren't supposed to do. Ironically he is a member of the AG's Elected Accountability board. His fellow council members censored him for "telling" on them! When we of the community wrote to the AG in protest about this, the AG response back was there was nothing that he could do about it ...so much for any "accountability" and now we graphically know what another sham BOTH the AG board and the councils are ...

They say all politics is local and for me, well, I wish I could afford to move or at least some insurance but ...I am not able to afford either since I m on a fixed income. I have the best landlord in the world who does not deserve this, but they won't even allow him a grant to sandbag it and fix it from the environment millions they got. Right now they are claiming he "owns" the bridge that is on a marked street with a sign ~ it is downright evil what they are doing. The saddest part is, nobody will be able to afford the cheesy overpriced condos they will build, and the units will most likely just lie fallow.

What a bunch of greedy idiots. I am wondering what is going into their pockets that would allow them to approve such insane crap. Most likely the "construction company" thinks it can just declare bankruptcy afte raping the land, move on top do it again, and still live off their bank accounts. Meanwhile I am waiting and praying it won't happen this year and that some miracle will allow my landlord to get funding ~ I have attended the sham council meetings and these idiots remain purposefully ignorant of the Damecles (SP?) sword dangling over our heads ...

Cat In Seattle ~ err really Kenmore, but I grew up in Seattle just cannot afford to live there anymore ...
