Uninsured Little Rock Amputee Can’t Get Prosthesis

Really, it doesn’t get much worse than this: a man injured on the job whose injury resulted in his leg being amputated below the knee. He can’t get a prosthetic leg from the manufacturer because he has no health insurance. And since he can’t work without a leg, he can’t get a job that might offer health insurance.

Bill Clinton and Blanche Lincoln need to explain to Keith Hitchcock why they aren’t at the Little Rock health fair, despite its having been "politicized" by Keith Olbermann, whose MSNBC viewers raised more than $1.7 million for this and other free clinics.

Why can’t Keith Hitchcock get a prosthetic leg? Is this the kind of health care your constituents deserve, Senator Lincoln? Is this the kind of health care your donors offer your constituents? Say it ain’t so, Blanche, say it ain’t so!

Asthmatic Texan Drives 5 Hours to Health Fair & Tells Senators: “Have a Heart!”

Cindy Howell drove five hours from her Dallas home to see a doctor at the Little Rock health fair today. She has $30,000 of credit card debt from her last five years of Texas Risk Pool premiums, but she can’t get mammograms or preventive care under her plan. She pays $126 for one asthma medication but she skips doses to make it last longer.

What does Cindy have to say to the politicians in Washington voting on health care debate tonight? "Have a heart!"

Are you listening, John Cornyn? Are you listening, Kay Bailey Hutchison? This is your constituent who drove five hours to another state capital so that she could get the health care she can’t afford under your state’s risk pool plan.
