I am wondering if the Repubs hold together and Lieberman. Mitch McConnell supposedly knows Senate procedure and rules as well as Byrd. I hope the GOP has some tricks in their bag to stop this.

It should have been killed in the House. Newt and Dede sabotaging NY-23 took the fear out of the Dems and lost us a voted in the House. Burn in hell Newt.

The real payoff for the Dems is overwhelming power and they know if this passes they have it. This is NOT about health care, the Dems can give a rats behind about health care, his is about FULL GOVERNMENT CONTROL and if this passes they have it. This is what liberals have wanted for as far back as they can remember. They can taste the power, controlling health care, that is icing on the cake for them

"Healthcare" is certainly a ruse for massively funding SEIU, but in reality, what is "healthcare"?

"Healthcare" is neither a right, nor a privilege. It is a commodity. It is a business. It has costs, and hopes to make a profit, by design. The idea that insurance = healthcare is the way they have framed their arguments. Insurance is a contract for services.

The idea that you can pay for unlimited services with finite dollars is a dream. Insurance companies use actuarial tables to determine projected costs. They use actual costs based on annual payouts on policies to set the next years charges. If all of the people in the group get sick, the system cannot pay for them all. It collapses into bankruptcy.

Insurance is a unique product. In Florida, it pays to replace beach houses. In Louisiana, it pays for underwater homes. But, usually that "insurance" comes from the public trough. We all know who that "public" is...

Landrieu claims a point of personal privilege for an additional minute to respondg to her being caught out taking a legislative bribe for her cloture vote, blames it on Republican bloggers.

It’s safer than packing a picnic lunch and heading off to Bull Run way back when.

Mary Landrieu, aka “The Louisiana Purchase” has to take more time to cover herself.

“I’m not going to be defensive about this,” she says defensively...

Thank you - I get confused with this stuff.

So, if they vote FOR cloture, we wake up tomorrow in another country cause they will then immediately vote up/down like they did in the House?

True. But at least then you got to see real men show true courage.

I'm just keeping my eye out for the first state to secede.

Outside that, I am considering other countries. I will not submit any further to Gov't servitude.

2. Hard to imagine
Is there a shortage of do-nothing ignorant layabouts in other countries? And what do they bring to the table with their special skill set? Chee-toh stained fingers aren't nearly as sexy as their moms would have them believe.

3. "lost us a voted in the House"
Now how the hell am I supposed to parody that? That sentence is already wearing tattered overalls and living in a tar paper shack with it's aunt mom and uncle dad.

4. What fools!
Right - hoping that insurance companies can continue to screw us and run our economy into the ground is soooo patriotic.
USA! USA! USA!

I wonder how many of these idiots rail against the gubbmint takeover of healthcare while they continue to enjoy their VA/Medicare/Medicaid/disabilty/Social Security benefits?
It makes me so angry and disheartened to see and hear the teabagger types organize against healthcare for the Americans who don't have access to the same system they avail themselves of. When you see the teabaggers at their pathetic rallies the predominant hair color is gray and the average age is over 65.

This summer, at a family reunion, my two brothers-in-law angrily denounced Democrats and healthcare reform at length. Guess how old they are? Yep, both over 65, and both receiving Medicare and VA benefits. Their primary concern was that some - God forbid! - Mexican get something from our healthcare system that they didn't "deserve." Forget the fact that they have grandchildren and children that can't afford or can't get health insurance. To them, as long as they get what they think they "deserve" then the rest of the country can piss off. Their answer to healthcare for all was - yes, you guessed it - the Emergency Room which they think means equal access for all.

I left that reunion so pissed off. It seems it's usually the people who already have decent healthcare that don't want any kind of reform for the rest of us.
Very republican, very unsurprising, but very disappointing nontheless.

5. Other countries?
I wonder what other countries they think they will find with less 'gubmint influence'. Certainly nowhere in the first world. What, are they planning a lovely Fundie retreat at the base of Kilimanjaro? I hear Antarctica is a good place for them-thar freedumb-luvvin' God-feerin' 'Murkins who ain't gots no truck wif da gubmint.

They'd be amusing if they weren't so goddamned dangerous.

6. They hate the fact that HCR will be on Pres. Obama's resume. This
will be a feather of great magnitude in his cap and for Dems. Those who vote against this and attempt a re-election will probably be doomed, and they know it. Go Dems!
