Super model Kim found hanged in Paris

PARIS, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Supermodel Daul Kim left messages on her Web site saying she was "depressed" and "lonely" before her body was found hanging in her Paris apartment, police said.

Police said the 20-year-old South Korean model was found dead Thursday by a friend, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Despite her success in the fashion-promotion industry where she presented the latest lines of Chanel, Dries van Noten and others, Kim had recently indicated her deep despair on her Internet blog, the Telegraph said.

In late October she announced, "I left Seoul and I'm in Paris -- I'm happy!" But then Nov. 5 she wrote: "I already accepted that I relate to nothing. The more I gain the more lonely it is ... I know I'm like a ghost."

In her final entry Nov. 18, she posted an entry titled "Say hi to forever."

20. You must've forgotten about the last 60 years.
That being said I don't think it has anything to do with this poor girl's tragic suicide.

29. Oh that's idiotic.. we aren't a colonial power there.. I've actually lived there.

If you want to compare Japan's brutal treatment of Korea with our role there as comparable then you really don't know what you are talking about.

We have about 38,000 troops there total, most within a few miles of the DMZ or around Osan. We don't occupy South Korea nor could we given the size of their own army being 687,000 troops. We are merely there as a trip wire to give us an excuse to fight the North Koreans should they decide to invade the South. South Korea is a constitutional democratic republic and they very often are at odds with the United States on issues of policy. We don't run South Korea.

28. maybe she just liked her hair a different color
Is every person with pink, blue, purple or whatever dyed hair self-loathing? Maybe she wanted a look that would stand out and get her more notice - isn't that what being a 'supermodel' is all about?

BTW, I never heard of her either.

12. The comment wasn't expressed that way.

And there's nothing to indicate that this young woman was particularly starving herself either.

Also, Asian women in general, are often slight of build and tend toward smaller breasts. Is this body type now considered "abnormal"?

13. That still is an ignorant comment. Some women are naturally small
and dont have large breasts. They should not feel ashamed of their bodies either

11. One of my friends learned to love and accept her body because of modeling
Edited on Sat Nov-21-09 11:02 AM by EndersDame
she is from a tiny BFE Texas town and was teased for having no breasts or hips and not being curvy. She weighed about 90 pounds and wore a training bra until she had her baby and then got to have an A cup and weighed about 107. Any way she came to Austin and was told that she should be a model (catalog) ad realized she was gorgeous and shouldnt have to measure up to some ideal that she never will be.I was shocked that she would have been jealous of my body and gave me a new perspective on things. I am glad that there are thin women, curvy women , muscular women etc . It would be so boring if we are all the same body type

14. I've known a couple of ladies who lived in the periphery of the modeling industry for awhile too.
And just as you said, it boosted their self-esteem. Some tall, thin and boyish built girls are teased terribly throughout school.

I agree with you completely Endersdame. All body types have their own appeal and I adore the diversity too. Even though there's a hoopla about the extreme nature of the modeling biz these days, more than ever women can be who they want. We need to defend that. :)

18. Yep, absolutely.

And for those who are hurt by it the most... on the one hand you end up with women on torture diets struggling to get into a smaller size, and on the other you have women going under the knife to get breast and ass implants. Crayzee!

Btw it's always nice to run into you Endersdame, hope you're doing fine! :hi:
