HELP WANTED: Brave Congressman to file bill prohibiting Geithner from working on Wall Street
Just sayin'. Dude can resign tomorrow, but he'll be behind the desk at Goldman Sachs in hours, reaping the billions he has sown as Treasury Rapist -- er, Secretary. He'll get the very-expensive last laugh on all of us. Unless he can somehow be stopped.

1. Ok but...
I thought bills couldn't single out individuals or organizations.

That's why the bill for Schiavo and Acorn wouldn't fly.

2. Yeah, you're right.
But it could be worded without signaling out Geithner.

3. No Treasury Secretary can accept a job in a firm he was responsible for regulating
for 5 years after leaving office, only problem is he could argue that he is grandfathered since he took the job after the law came into effect.

4. If he is not grandfathered, I expect that he'll make plenty of money .
He'll get a full professorship at the top of the pay scale at one of the top schools.

He'll write a book or two.

He may be able to consult.

And he'll give lots and lots of speeches sponsored by money laundering non-profits.

He can chill out and do his own thing for five years before he gets to be a board member at Goldman for as long as he wants the job.

Or he'll be installed at the IMF or World Bank.

5. Be easier to slap a tax on income about $XXX at about 95% rate
would be more fair in many ways, including paying us back for the money they stole to reap in their 'bonuses'

8. I don't see how that would be constitutional - it would amount to a bill of attainder.
He would have to commit some sort of actual crime for Congress to do this.

9. Why couldn't it be generic, not specifically directed toward Geithner?
I understand the attainder problem. But if we could think up a way to give away ever last dime in the Treasury without scrutiny, we can find a way to keep this asshole from ever working in the public sector again. As if he'll need to. His mattress should be pretty-well stuffed with cash by now.
