It wasn't that long ago that a couple of honest-to-goodness for-real church ladies (of the self-anointed variety) got all upset over something they saw that they were told had come from the upstairs adults-only section of a greeting card store over at the shopping mall. They couldn't decide if they were more upset about the card that could possibly turn itself into a live person that would satanically seduce their husbands away from them if they ever saw it or that there was such a room they'd never been in in a store in a mall right there in their very town.
They tried talking to the owner who mentioned something about the Constitution. They talked to a lawyer who actually introduced them to said document. Ignoring that, they then tried to get their neighbors to join them in their efforts, but that backfired when the neighbors were thrilled to learn that there was such a place nearby. To the store owner's delight, his business boomed. Our two arbiters of the public morals, in high dudgeon over this development, raised such a stink outside the entrance to the mall that customers decided to go elsewhere. The store owner used his riches to open other stores under different names, and he keeps finding new ways to reach his customers. Meanwhile, the mall closed, all the stores were shuttered, the workers went on welfare and all those entrepreneurs wondered what the hell they'd done wrong.
As for our two do-gooders, they congratulated themselves on a job well done, and headed over to the soup kitchen to ladle out lectures on right living to the down-and-out.
