Poll question: Dems calling for Geithner to be fired--aren't they shooting themselves in the foot?
Dems are now adapting the RW meme that President Obama's financial team failed... which I don't believe is the case. But now, because of vocal dems in the house and senate, Pres. Obama will be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Well... all I can say is, good luck in 2010.

No jobs AND a collapsed market.

14. Geithner..
... has given jobs to no one, but gave given his banker buddies billions.

More and more people are catching on to the FACT that his actions have mostly just funneled billions to companies like Goldman Sachs who return the favor by paying themselves outrageous salaries while contributing exactly nothing to the economy.

It's too late the undo the damage that fuckwad has done, and Obama will NEVER be regarded as having done the right thing by hiring the bastard to begin with.

But firing him would be a nice symbolic gesture.

6. I don't give a flying fuck what the right wing says
The elf is a fucking failure and a tool of the Wall Street/"federal" reserve billionaire whores. He needs to be gone and either back in Santa's workshop making toys, or better yet, in prison for tax evasion.

Anybody defending that fucking piece of criminal enabling shit really needs to take a look in the mirror and ask themselves WHY they think he's worth it.

9. Other: Not sure. None of us liked the idea of Geithner from the git-go, but
who would O get to replace him? It's been horrible, but it could probably be even worse! His choice of Geithner in the first place kind of concerns me, so not sure if he'd do better choosing a replacement.

27. There are several people who could do a really good job,
but how do we know who Obama would select? I was hoping for Paul Krugman initially, before he appointed Geithner, but Obama never asked for my opinion. :7

37. krugman - are u serious? He just theorizes - has no real job
Geitner is enabling his Wall Street buddies but at least worked at the NY Fed.
Krugman has always worked in the theoretical world & knows squat about Main Street. Anything he would do, would be an experiment and he is not the one who would be paying. It would be US - the working stiffs.

43. Don't worry about it -- it's not like I have any say in the matter. Perhaps, since
you obviously have a handle on it, you should advise Obama as to who the perfect choice would be. And who would that be, by the way?

She has a deep understanding of the problems and plenty of ideas for the solutions.

She is not an insider, and is well equipped to perform the job correctly.

Bob Reich and Brooksley Born as well. Yeah, they were both in the Clinton administration, but they see what was done WRONG back then, instead of pretending it was all right, like Rubin, Summers, and the elf.

If you are going to do and think the opposite of whatever republicans say then you might as well be a republican... an image in a mirror looks just like the thing itself.

to start serving the needs and interests of flesh and blood citizens instead of the corporations.

Geithner needs to go and Obama needs to find someonew better to fill that position. And if he can't - or won't - then maybe he needs to go as well.

22. if the far right and far left both want Geithner fired
he must be doing something right. Back in March, the far right wanted the banking system to fail, let them all go bankrupt, while the far left wanted to nationalize the banking system. Both would have been disastrous. Instead, the banking system has since largely recapitalized, the equity markets are nearly back to the pre-lehman levels, and global GDP figures are mostly back in the black.

For crying out loud.
If they fire Tim now it will look like that is what they are trying to do - blame it all on him.

If you don't like the policies he sets, then tell him to change the policies.
