AP NewsBreak: Army keeping media from Palin event
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Army officials plan to prevent media from covering Sarah Palin's appearance at Fort Bragg on Monday, saying they fear the event will turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama.

Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told The Associated Press on Thursday that Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin's book promotion at the North Carolina base.

Other members of the public would be permitted to attend, however.

McCollum said the Army did not want the event to become a platform for Palin supporters to express political opinions "directed against the commander in chief."

The former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate began a promotional tour this week for the memoir "Going Rogue."

4. Don't worry
Faux will find some footage from somewhere else and use that. Maybe from the inauguration.

5. That makes no sense
Palin IS the face of political grandstanding against Obama. How the hell did she get access to Ft. Bragg? I spent 4 years there and never saw one book signing tour.

6. Actually, I don't know that this is such a good idea
It will just give her fans there cause for resentment and Palin another talking point about poor pitiful her - quashed by President Obama's censors.

OTOH, if they play Limpballs there, then they should also be playing Air America. Does anyone know if they do?

9. Oh, I agree. I just like a different M.O.
1) give 'em enough rope
2) laugh as we point out the illogic of their idiocies. That's why Jon Stewart, Tina Fey, etc. are so devastating to their talking points.

I just think banishing her make her more compelling to some...forbidden fruit and all that.

12. Am I the only one that has a problem with her belittling the Commander in Chief on a military base?
oh, and let me add a rw talking point "During a time of war".

I think this crosses the line.

13. That is great
I am glad that Army officials aren't allowing her to have media coverage. She would just abuse it anyways with her stupid rhetoric. Now Fox has to search for some kind of armybase footage to show.

14. Ugh. I don't like this decision.
I would prefer that political book-signings take place off-base. But if it's going to happen, media should be allowed on-base like any other member of the public.

16. She has done nothing but disrespect the Commander and Chief..
And they are letting her spew her shit on a military base?

If this were 2006 and Micheal Moore was doing it, people would be freaking out. This Palin woman is not important enough to have this kind of privilege. There is no doubt that she has her followers, but not as many as the media would like us to believe. Personally, I know very few people who like this woman.
