Fox News - "Senate Health Bill Price Tag, Rosy Deficit Estimate Assailed as 'Fantasy'"
I see some DUers attacking the health care reform bills as "facism" and repeating other right wing talking points against health care reform. So, here is a Fox News article assailing health care reform. It should be interesting to see how long it takes for certain "liberals" to start repeating the talking points therein as gospel.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claims that his health care bill costs about $848 billion in the first 10 years, well under President Obama's $900 billion target. That's for 10 years of revenue-gathering, but only six years of service.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claims that his health care bill costs about $848 billion in the first 10 years, well under President Obama's $900 billion target.

That's for 10 years of revenue-gathering, but only six years of service, according to the analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

Adding in expenses beyond the 10-year mark drastically skews the overall cost, making the $848 billion a mere fraction of the long-term price tag of overhauling America's health care system -- and that's if no changes are made to the legislation during that time.

1. Are they going to issue an apology for this later, just like with everything else they broadcast?

2. I haven't looked into this senate version like I did with the Baucus & house
Is "10 years of revenue-gathering, but only six years of service" wrong? From the other bills and the little I've read of this one it seems like they are pushing out service start date to make the cost/deficit look better.

I'd also like to know if this one has the same "failsafe" clause as the Baucus bill - if it will add to the deficit the subsidies will automatically be cut. That was another trick to make costs look better. CBO said Baucus will have to cut subsidies in 2015-2018 but they will stay under $900 billion.

3. What surprises me is not that they say this but that they think we would trust
them to know anything correctly after all their "mistakes".
