One member of the USPSTF Director of HMO, HealthPartners...
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 11:06 AM by mscuedawg
"...the assistant director of the federally sanctioned task force: the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force, which falls under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Diana Petitti of A.S.U. stated that there were no insurance company representatives on the board but then appeared to contradict herself as she gave a disclaimer: that there was indeed one member who is the director of "Health Partners" http://www.healthpartners.com/routing.jsp a Minnesota based HMO, that does sit on the task force or was associated with its decision."

Of course, this in no way surprises me...and being "challenged" by those Repuktards in my life to come up with "evidence" of my "conspiracy"....

Bottom line... insurance companies don’t want health care reform….they are sitting quite fat and happy how the current system works, so why wouldn’t there be people on that previously established task force who would want to derail reform. Obama’s Administration did NOT seat this task force. Republicans don’t want reform. Simply, this is the “death panel” scare tactic all over again, only now its at the risk of breast health…why breast health? Because it’s the 2nd most common killer of women. Politics are written all over it.

Am soooo hoping that Rachel Maddow picks up on this....

1. Personal experience with Health Partners
This was one of the first HMO's in Minnesota called Group Health. In the 1970's we called it "Group Death" because of the business decisions that were made in place of health care. There were lawsuits and hearings and things did get better. They did sign on to do Axis UCARE a special program for certain chronically ill MN patients. I joined that program in 2000. However in 2004 in a negotiation they only re- accepted half of the Axis patients. I was one of them dropped. The next year they dropped all Axis patients. I dropped Axis in 2004 to stay with the doctor who, with the specialist network, had stabilized my condition. I was a whisker away from a nursing home in 2000.

I was sent back through the specialists for a re-evaluation earlier this year and they declined to look any further for new or better treatment and one neurologist thought I should get rid of the one pain pill I take a day. (Just to be sure I did not come back?) I think it is time to move on.

5. Your link to the story doesn't work.

Did it happen to name who the individual was?

Because there doesn't appear to currently be any overlap.

7. Ahhh...Isham it is.
I happen to disagree with the panel's recommendation.

It's funny, I received an email from a right winger the other day explaining how this decision is the just beginning for the Obama death panels.

I don't believe her, or your theory though.
