"Opt-Out": is In (the Senate Bill)

I think there should be an amendment that requires all members of congress to acquire their health insurance through their state's public option. That way if the state opts out then both the Senators and the Congressperson(s)lose their insurance.

1. I think you have the timing wrong
States opting opting out logically occurs before individuals get to chose from the exchange. In addition, I suspect that Congress gets its insurance out of DC, where their "employer" (the federal government is). This does mean that if the public option becomes open to federal employees, you could ask that elected officials take it. (Some are already covered by Medicare or the VA.)

2. i want the senators and congress to only be able to get the insurance that we have access to.
that mean that if my employer only allows me to have access to a very high deductible high cost plan then they should only have access to it. none of this exchange stuff that federal employees have access to.... since congress makes the laws governing insurance companies behavior, then they should be stuck living with the consequences of the choices they make. so they should only have access to the worst plans available to the work force... those of us that make too much to qualify for the state plan but not enough to actually afford the crappy plans we have access to.
