10. A strong feminist friend of mine . . .

. . . told me that if the women of America flocked to Sarah Palin, she (my friend) would support the repeal of Women's suffrage. FORTUNATELY, the women of America proved to be much more intelligent than that -- but, I'm afraid, Sarah hasn't increased her understanding of the world much these last 12 months.

Excuse me, but am I just dense? What do these conservative whack-jobs see in her? Today, in a little Indiana town not far from where I live, Caribou Barbie will be signing copies of her book at Barnes & Noble. They're already lining up for those bloody wrist bands. She's got a right to push her book, but the people I find troubling are the nut-jobs who support her. She's so shallow and has no grasp of issues or ideology. I'm becoming convinced that these jokers see her as the All-Amereican Mom, and Apple Pie. And that's what they're attracted to.

Anybody else got an idea about this?

Her supporters reject intellectuals, education, and anything they don't understand
If something is complex, they feel they are being cheated.
They feel that simple common sense is the answer to complex problems
They feel their simpleminded approach can solve all problems.
So to them, she is the perfect candidate.
