Hoffman doubles down, says election stolen

By Jordan Fabian - 11/18/09 09:03 PM ET

Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman on Wednesday accused ACORN and union interests of stealing the upstate New York special election that he conceded on Nov. 3.

Hoffman on Monday "unconceded" after recanvassing of votes across the district showed Democratic Rep. Bill Owens' margin of victory narrowing. Hoffman originally conceded after trailing Owens by 5,335 votes, but further counts showed him trailing by 3,176 votes. A recent count of absentee ballots in three counties showed Hoffman still trailing by 2,951.

Until this point Hoffman has said a victory would be a "long shot." Now, Hoffman is accusing liberal groups of unjustly influencing the outcome of the election.

"As evidence surfaces, we find out that reported results from election night were far from accurate. ACORN and the unions did their best to try and sway the results to Obamacare supporter Bill Owens," Hoffman wrote in an internet message to supporters. "Recent developments leave me to wonder who is scheming behind closed doors, twisting arms and stealing elections from the voters of NY-23."

The message asks supporters for donations to "ensure every vote is counted."

1. Well,
Good Luck with that Mr. Hoffman... either trying for the sore loser award or just more of the keeping my name in the papers?

2. So Hoffman reveals his nutbaggery
Good.

The more the conservatives paint themselves as nutbags with their teabagging, conspiracy theories, and birtherism, the better.

4. That damn ACORN at it again!
They must have bussed a bunch of homeless people in. Or something.

Sadly, this sort of nuttery detracts from very real and rational concerns about electronic voting machines- which can easily be hacked and have been implicated in widespread fraud.

5. very public concession ... but will you hear this as much from the "liberal media" as

6. Ahhh... ACORN again.
18 months ago, nobody had ever heard of ACORN outside of major urban centers. Now all of a sudden, ACORN stole the election in 2009, ACORN stole the election in 2008, ACORN caused the mortage industry to collapse, ACORN shot Reagan, ACORN told Saddam to invade Kuwait, ACORN shot both Kennedys AND Lee Harvey Oswald, ACORN is keeping new nuclear power plants from being built, and ACORN shot that duke in Sarejavo in 1914.

Oh, and ACORN made New Coke, Jarts, and was behind the Tickle Me Elmo riots.

 :tinfoilhat:

What Is ACORN?

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities.

Since 1970, ACORN has grown to more than 350,000 member families, organized in 850 neighborhood chapters in over 100 cities across the U.S. and in cities in Argentina, Peru, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Canada.

ACORN's accomplishments include successful campaigns for better housing, schools, neighborhood safety, health care, job conditions, and more.

ACORN members participate in local meetings and actively work on campaigns, elect leadership from the neighborhood level up, and pay the organization's core expenses through membership dues and grassroots fundraisers.

ACORN has constantly challenged the traditional notions of what a community organization is, and its family of organizations includes two radio stations, a voter registration network, a housing corporation, and several publications.
