15. The "interview," at least, was one of the worst
This is Stewart's problem. He has maybe 5 min to interview, and he has his opinions, but he does not let his guests speak. He asks a question, and immediately needs to clarify it while the hapless guest is trying to edge in a word. Sometimes it works - Biden's yesterday was good, he let him talk.

But this evening he just cut into Dobbs before he could barely utter a word.

Here is a suggestion, Lou: go to Olbermann or Rachel. They have all the time in the world and will let you talk.

19. John Stewart is entertainment
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 12:18 AM by liberal_at_heart
I don't think it mattered whether the interview went well or not. Olberman and Rachel are news I'll be it opinionated news but news none the less. I remember when young people first flocked to John Stewart when George W. Bush was president and the Iraq War started. All the conservatives were griping that John Stewart was the only source of news for most young people. John himself said he is not a news source. He is an entertainer and a damn good one. He is probably one of the most well informed entertainers out there especially on politics but he is an entertainer not a newsman. He gives the people what they want. If Dick Cheney were on the Daily Show do you think the audience would want John to give a real interview. No. They would want John to jump all over him and insult him every chance he got and he probably would.

5. Holy shit! Lou Dobbs is on!
That's what I said to the dog, LOL. My first thought was that it was going to be another Jim Cramer interview, but Jon seems to be eerily polite.

This would have been the night to be there... ;)

9. It's polite, but it's very apparent how far Dobbs has fallen...
He's resorting to the lamest and most free-of-truth RW talking points, that the majority of the American people are AGAINsT health care reform.:grr::eyes::grr:

13. I know, he appeared uncharacteristically low-key.
It was like he was playing a part, and had certain lines he had to say. :-(

BTW, the congressman I worked so hard for voted with Dennis.

Sure he did. Never let him finish a sentence.
This is not an interview, this is self aggrandizing. Of Stewart himself.

17. BTW The Daily Show is broadcast once a week on CNN International
I wonder if they'll use this clip...

A weekly Global Edition of The Daily Show has been created for overseas markets and airs on foreign networks as well as CNN International.
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Daily_Show

"The Daily Show: Global Edition," is a half-hour international weekend edition of the satirical news commentary program which airs on U.S. cable network Comedy Central. The CNN International version is a compilation of the best comedy sketches that aired during the previous week on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," which is recorded weeknights before a live studio audience in New York.

21. Thanks for the info!
I did not know that. And what they choose to show probably depends on who's doing the choosing... ;)

Went to see "The Daily Show" last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jon Stewart is funny both on and off camera and he's very nice to the audience. One woman asked for his notes, and he gave them to her after the show... The only negative aspect was the security hoops that you have to go through to get in there. There are metal detectors and you even have to remove your belt! And they also search purses... The poor guy gave up on mine...
