The American people should realize that anti-govt types have no business in government
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 08:40 PM by MrScorpio
By definition, these people are hostile to government and are elected (if they are) with the expressed intention to FUCK THINGS UP.

It's the anti-government types who give cover to the corporate whores, the Treasury raiders and the goddammned idiots that we're saddled with these days.

There used to be a time when most Republicans felt that they had an obligation to make sure that government functioned. Even if it was to make sure that the rich got a better than average break.

But these days, the fringers are all over the fucking place. Even forcing some Dems to look over their shoulders.

I really can't conceive of why anyone would want to elect an anti-govt asshole to office in order to screw shit up.

Unless, it's just a case of assholes voting for assholes.

2. The media
You can't really bite the hand that feeds you (advertisers).

Want to know why the cigarette companies took such a giant fall....they were banned for advertising on TV or Radio. If they were still allowed to do so, doctors would still be saying smoking is good for you and be taken seriously as an opposing side on TV.

Government is an easy target, they only advertise once every 2-4 years for a short period of time, and half the revenue is from the assholes.

3. I Recently Met My Congressman
He is a Republican hostile to government. I told him that since I was pro-government, maybe I would run for his seat. I'm not really going to do that, but boy was he taken aback. He started hemming and hawing that he wasn't against government. :puke: Like you, I will never understand why people like him are in government, making decisions for the rest of us.

4. Yep

If I'm hiring a dog catcher, I'm not inclined toward the guy who says, "it's a waste of time to try to catch dogs."

5. The rich in the USA have had a campaign to put religion in place of government
in the hearts and minds of Americans. So they don't have to pay taxes.

6. It seems so simple but yet a lot of people don't get it.
If some people hate (loathe) government, why would anybody bother with it if not to simply dismantle it piece by piece and sell it off to the highest bidder (which is probably what it's all really about anyway IMHO- see Thomas Frank's wonderful tome, "The Wrecking Crew").

7. That makes sense as a practical matter. If people are anti-gov, how can they be allowed...
anywhere near to where they could pull government all down from the inside. Their temptation to do so would be irresistible
