Palin: ‘Jewish Settlements Should Expand,’ Even In Palestinian Areas
Palin: ‘Jewish Settlements Should Expand,’ Even In Palestinian Areas

n an interview with ABC’s Barbara Walters, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin separated herself from decades of U.S. policy — which has held that Israel’s settlements in the Occupied Territories are illegitimate and an impediment to peace — saying that she thinks “Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expand”:

WALTERS: The Obama administration does not want Israel to build any more settlements on what they consider Palestinian territory. What is your view on this?

PALIN: I disagree with the Obama administration on that. I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead. And I don’t think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand.

WALTERS: Even if it’s Palestinian areas?

PALIN: I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expand.

Not only does Palin disagree with the Obama administration on that, she also disagrees with the Bush administration, whose 2002 “roadmap for peace” called for a settlement freeze. In fact, every U.S. administration since Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza began in 1967 has opposed Israel’s building of settlements, which are held to be illegal under the Fourth Geneva Convention: ... http://thinkprogress.org/2009/11/18/palin-israel-settlements/

2. "should be allowed to be expand"
Is that how she put it? Or is this perhaps a typo in the transcript? If not, her condition is worse than I thought, bordering on a Freeperism.

3. Example of Palin's rogueness?
Her followers don't have a clue either. This woman is dangerous and ignorant. A really bad combination.

6. "flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead."
Planning for her Armageddon when all those fundies who love Jews now will kick them out of the US, send them to Israel where they are supposed convert or die. Joe Lieberman's best friends.

7. Wouldn't be surprised if she buys into the John Hagee version of "Greater Israel"
Hagee preaches that Jesus can only return after Israel is expanded to it's "Biblical" borders, meaning ALL of the land that God promised to Abraham in Genesis. Which would pretty much look like this....

In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram,
saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the
river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates

- Genesis 15:18

Of course Hagee and Sarah conveniently forget that God told Abe about this at the same time He told him he would be the Father of MANY nations, not just one.

10. I would bet she doesn't have a clue what she is talking about
I would also bet she would be hard pressed to identify the region on the map or even give the most basic account of the history of the region.

20. That's my guess, too. She knows nothing of Middle East politics, except that
1) freeper-types are pro-Israel (or at least anti-Arab), and
2) populations have a tendency to get bigger.

So, she puts the two together and comes up with the kind of answer I'd expect from an 8th grade geography student who missed a week of class and didn't do the reading...

15. I like her!
I think that she will be a nightmare for the GOP in 2010 and beyond. Democrats should fear a candidate emerging from the GOP that is smart, telegenic and a good communicator. Palin is money in the bank!

16.  I think she just talks to hear herself talk as the primary objective, and the message she delivers
is secondary. I don't think she has the faintest idea what she is advocating here.

This woman is a complete joke on the political stage and it flabbergasts me that she is taken seriously in politics by anyone. McCain should hang his head in shame for even suggesting this nut would be suitable for the veep spot.

18. The unasked question is "WHY will more and more Jewish people
be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead?"

She is a firm believer in the Armageddon scenario. She believes the end times are HERE.

IOW, she's fucking insane.
